Checked out through the MDE app

Yesterday I received a push notification from MDE telling me I could check out via the app today and didn’t need to visit the front desk. Another one came early this morning. We left at 10 AM, checked out via MDE, and the best part was we had not had any knocks on the door from Housekeeping! I wasn’t aware of that capability before, so I hope it works well and avoids those aggravating interactions with Housekeeping wanting to clean the room at 8:00.

We did this when staying at VGF2 a couple of weeks ago. We left like super early (2:15a). It let us do the checkout shortly after 8:30a.

Not exactly on point but I have been advised to do this when enjoying a split stay. My phone / MagicBand won’t open the door at the second resort if I haven’t checked out of the first one either via MDE or in person.

We always stop at the front desk of resort 1 to checkout before moving to resort 2 when doing a split stay. I’d be curious if checking out via mde would accomplish the same thing.

Yes, I certainly hope it helps housekeeping. I remember reading somewhere that their shifts are from 8:30-5:00.

My theory on not being able to checkout until 8:30 was that the room can't be cleaned earlier than that, so perhaps as the checkout requests come through after 8:30 it will get relayed to housekeeping that the room is empty.

No. It's literally a button you click in the app to check out. That's all it does.
