Check your passport dates

OK common sense and most of us are plannerholics but just been on phone to family member who goes away(hopefully) on Thursday for a Med cruise. Passport expired in June. Told her to ring Passport advise line, she has got an appointment in Liverpool at 9am Wednesday morning, should be ready for collection 1pm.

Lucky they checked! I had to get the one day passport renewal a few years back (I knew it had expired but booked to go to Disneyland Paris last minute - so it was always the plan for the one day renewal).
It was very efficient when i got it done in Liverpool, went in, filled in some forms then came back a few hours later to get it

My Brother had to do it a few week back, washed his passport in his Jeans pocket a few days before he was due to fly to his apartment in Turkey.
Should be easy enough for her on Wednesday.

Depends who you are flying with Les, Virgin, BA and all US carriers just require you to have a valid passport for your travel dates.
Under the Visa waiver program the US Customs and Border Protection automatically extend a UK travellers passport by 6 months beyond validity see "Visa free travel" http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/id_visa/study_exchange/difference_visa_adrecord.xml

Charter airlines usually say you need 6 months, a standard response to save them giving the correct info for each individual country. Unfortunately you can't argue with the carrier if thats what they say even though C&BP don't require it at all.

Saying that you can renew your passport early, you can add upto 9 months of your current passport onto a new one. Say you have 3 month left your new passport will be valid for 10 years 3 months, many people prefer to do that.
