Check your homeowner's insurance for cell phone coverage!

See post #14. That's in reference to a "loss" or whatever.

Would you mind sharing what CC you used?

Please come back and share what happens when you make your first claim and what happens to your home insurance rates the next year :)

You'll be the first to know!

I think others who have been following this thread might also be really interested to know what credit card you used that provides insurance coverage beyond extended warranties or price protection. In my research, I came up empty (besides what was offered by Wells Fargo or Chase Ink). That could effectively end this discussion. Many people would greatly benefit from that.

They should check with their own credit card companies. I don’t think most people would open a credit card for cell phone coverage. My card that I have been discussing on the credit card thread is from NavyFed and isnt card I plan to use other that the balance transfers. I insure my cell phones elsewhere.

We can also find our phones using find my iPhone, life360, etc. My son did have his phone stolen a few years ago and we used find it iPhone to locate the thief’s home and place of employment and were successful in having him return the phone to the location it was stolen. Yes we knocked on his door and sat at his place of employment, spoke to management their etc. so he got freaked out and returned it by leaving it in the store bathroom where is was stolen from.

I am more concerned about damage than it being stolen.

I had read the credit card on another site. Most said had to put monthly bill on the card. Then I stopped reading.

Incorrect.

Several credit card provides coverage. The card I opened a few weeks ago provides coverage.

Agreed. Plus the credit card coverage is often better than the outrageous insurance provided by many cell phone providers. Many of the cell phone providers are charging very high rates for very poor coverage. Of course they never do a good job explaining that when they are selling it to you in the cell phone stores. The keep stating that it gives you "piece of mind" when it does not.

Best advice is to check with your insurance company. It appears from a Google search that the following insurance companies do not offer cell phone coverage or riders: Allstate, Travelers and Western National.
