Check out these new airline seats, they resemble "saddles".

Can you imagine??? How about flying with young children. A carseat would never work, nor the "cares" system. They say they'd use them on "short" flights. How often do "short" flights end up sitting on the tarmac for long periods of time or otherwise delayed. Not to mention being bad for health as blood clots tend to form in some travelers when they can't move around.

You've got to be kidding me.

And the airlines have thought about "standing room" tickets? Is this a subway? I don't think FAA will even come close to approving that idea.

That's absolutely *ridiculous* ! :sad2:

No wonder so many other countries make fun of what has become of our air "service" and airports.

Absolutely ridiculous. Everytime I think I've seen or heard it all... Some yahoo comes up with an idea like this

As if airline seats aren't uncomfortable enough? :confused3

I said I'd never drive to WDW, but I'd think about it if those were the seats on all planes. Don't know what I would do about going to Vegas. Amtrak?

God forbid you are even slightly overweight if your plane has those seats. No thanks!

Overseas carriers are considering these seats too, not just US ones. And it was designed by an Italian company.

I personally would never sit in one, it looks way too uncomfortable. But if someone else wants to pay less to essentially half-stand on the flight - more power to them.

I do find it interesting that a couple of carriers seriously want to offer standing room on flights - what will those people do during take-off & landing? Just hold on? Now that is ridiculous.

They look like adult high chairs to me without the tray.

I wonder if they adjust for height. I can just see my feet dangling.

That is just stupid. But, hey, maybe it would come with a free cowboy hat and reins... In-flight entertainment...

I could see those working on little jumps around Europe when you are just hopping from, say, Rome to Barcelona or Prague to Munich but they look pretty uncomfortable for anything much longer. If fact the first thing I thought was Ryan Air when I saw them, didn't they float the idea of standing room at one point?

If they were willing to get me from OH to FL for $50 round trip I might suck it up and try it once but I have a feeling those won't be much cheaper. In fact I could see those going for what seats go for now and regular seats being priced higher.

It's a moot point until a US airline is willing to invest (ok, I'm sure we will see an announcement to install them on the airlines run by the scheisters at Spirit) and more importantly, the FAA is willing to allow them. And let's not forget DHS approval, as I could think of some security issues with these "seats" vs real seats.

If these EVER appear in the US, it will be at least 4 years.

At which point I start driving from Chicago to Orlando instead.

For $50 RT, I might consider it, but I think it would be torture... Maybe flying to Detroit or KC or Indy or Cleveland... but that's about it.

Ah, another way for airlines to make things such as a root canal, montezuma's revenge, or a colonoscopy more desirable than flying.
