When I was booking my vacation (back in April) for September. I called Disney, went to Disney on-line and then called AAA (AAA was $200.00 cheaper for the same setup I wanted. The other day I went to the DISBoards.com main page and clicked the package deal link on the bottom of the page where they had discounts for August and September. I called my Agent at AAA and asked her to check to see if I can use the code. She called me back within an hour and sayed "Girl, do you know how much money you saved" lol. I'm thinking $200.00 to $250.00. Well, I saved $530.64 (so technically I saved $750.64 total). Woohoo now I have even more money to spend on pins lol. Just thought those of you who are going in August and September would like to know (go to the site and get the code you need first then give it to your agent).

I'm leaving in 41 days and counting lol
I'll be there soon ::MickeyMo & ::MinnieMo

Isn't saving that kind of money FANTASTIC?

I first called WDW and made a reservation. Then I called back about 1 week later and asked about AAA discounts - they gave me the AAA rate. Then I called after a couple of months when the new codes came out and used the code for Sept and I've cut my package price by $900 (for a 10 day trip). Pretty cool, huh.

I mention it because I think you can still book through WDW and get the AAA rate.

just wondering how you get the countdown and pictures into your replies. If you haven't notice I'm new lol Lucky I figured the siggys out

Welcome to DIS Nutz4Dizney! And congratulations on your savings. Enjoy it.

It always amazes me how many people aren't willing to check a couple of websites or make a couple of phone calls because they think it isn't worth their time. But it seems those same people are always willing to complain about how expensive things are or how deep in credit card debt they have gotten themselves.

Quite often, saving significant amounts of money is ridiculously easy and definitely well worth the time it takes.

but when ANOTHER confirmation came from Disney (cause I keep getting better rates!), my husband asked if this was the notification to quit calling them?! LOL

i have a question if you guys dont mind.
I am planning a May trip so if i book with wdw instead of say expedia if the rate comes down i get that money back?
How does it work? Will it be credited to my credit card or just give me a voucher?I booked my Nov.trip with expedia and they dont give discounts once trip is booked!
Thanks,
Denise

Hi Denise,
If you book thru WDW, AAA or a travel agent, they should be able to apply a discount code to your existing reservation. I say "should" because there's always a disclaimer that availability of rooms, choice of resort and dates are limited. They may not have a discounted room that you want in the resort that you want for the dates that you want. However, if you call as soon as the codes are released, there should be no problem.

They will refund the difference if you have already paid more than your total. This can come in the form of a room credit or they can credit it back to your charge card. How it is done will depend on how close your trip is to when you make the adjustment and which CM you get. As with other things Disney, they are not always consistent with how they do it.

PS - Check the cancellation penalty for Expedia. I think it's around $35 per person for packages. It may still save you money to pay the penalty and re-book at the lower price for November.

I recently learned that Southwest airlines will also honor a lower price to an existing reservation. They will not give you money back, but will give you a credit towards future travel.

With the way the price drops as the date gets closer, it is definitely worth checking.

just to let you know...southwest does credit the difference back to your credit card. I know in all their print, it says they don't, but I called and they said it would be creditted after our travel dates, but low and behold, the credit appeared on my very next statement and we don't travel till Sept!

maybe you actually have to call and specifically request the credit be processed, but I thought you'd like to know.

Tracey

I have never had Southwest give me a credit back on my credit card. They have always issued a credit for future flight that had to be used within the coming year
