What do I do with all that time inbetween and our luggage if we decide we want to go someplace? Our towncar arrives at 4pm to take us to the airport. I can't imagin spending 5hrs at the hotel sitting by luggage will be all that fun!:(

We do this all the time, but we usually leave everything in our rental van. I'm pretty sure the hotel will hold it for you just like they hold your bags if your room isn't ready at check in.

The resort will hold your bags from whenever you leave for the parks that morning until you return for your ride to the airport. Just call the day you're checking out and tell them you want to store your bags and they'll send someone up with little tickets you fill out with your name, address, etc. and they'll take your bags for you.

Is it possible to arrange for a later checkout time. I don't know about Disney resorts but I have arranged late checkouts at no extra charge at other hotels.

I kind of figured they would hold my bags behind if I wanted them too. This makes me a bit nervouse.

I am going to ask for a later checkout, but being Disney and all....I think they are going to want the room to get it ready for the next group.

We won't be able to go to the parks, but maybe heading to DTD is a good idea.

That's what we do. The resort stores our luggage until we come back and we spend the day at DTD...shopping....shopping....shopping!!!:cool1:

I always get a late flight and have them hold my bags if I don't have a rental car. If you have an AP or UPH I would check out early have them store the bags and head to a park. If not DTD is a great idea.

You can usually get a late checkout at Disney resorts. I always ask when we check-in and am always told to call the day before. Every time except twice we've been given until 1 p.m., which is the maximum for free. Once we only got until noon and on our most recent trip, the request was turned down.

I wouldn't worry too much about having the luggage stored -- they do it all the time. If you don't have tickets, hit the pool or go enjoy some Disney transportation (boat and monorail). You could even take the time to visit another resort just to see it.

You know you are even allowed to use the pool of your resort until midnight of the day you check out. When you have your luggage held, You could keep your swimsuits out and toss them in a locker by the pool for one last swim after the shopping and before your plane takes off!!

We had the same thing two weeks ago. We checked out of the Poly at 11 and no place to go until 4pm. We planned ahead of time that we would go to lunch and then do some shopping. We ended up going to the GF and eating at the cafe there. We then hit the gift shops there where we spent even more money! We then took a nice stroll around the GF and then back to the Poly. We ended up shopping at the Poly gift shops again too! Next time we will probably go to DTD for a while and really get some shopping done.

I've had my luggage stored many times, both at WDW and elsewhere and never had a problem. Disney will generally allow a later checkout if occupancy levels allow. As others have suggested, spend the extra time at Downtown Disney or the Boardwalk; keep out your bathing suits and spend time at the pool. Take the resort bus to the Magic Kingdom and then hop on the monorail and check out some of the Magic Kingdom resorts (have a leisurely lunch at one of them too!). While at the Magic Kingdom resorts you could rent a boat; you could go over to Fort Wilderness and rent boats and bikes there too.
