check on AP rates

Sorry, but I need to vent quickly.

If CRO wants me to check AP rate updates on the disneyworld.com website, IT NEEDS TO WORK!

The website is not accepting my husband's, son's, or my annual pass ID as valid. Now, I know I am entering the info correctly because it has worked every time I've entered it before. Every time that is until today.

There, I feel better now.

Okay, I am in south FL and my son does go back to school Aug 16, Palm Beach schools are going back the week before. Teachers even have to be back a week earlier. That's next week for Palm Beach teachers:eek:
Anyway, in addition to the Seasonal Passholder blackouts being lifted, I've seen something I've NEVER seen before (I have a thread going about this): A TV commerical for FL resident room only rates (for August)!!!! They've had commercials for Ap's, Play 4,etc , but not room only disounts.

Also, when AZZ came out, they had availability for everything I inquired about for Labor Day Weekend! Even Poly
concierge. Due to my mom and her DH coming a long I decided I needed two rooms-no problem. The CM remarked that bookings for that weekend were much lower than usual.

Then, when I called back to make PS's, I was able to get ALL my PS' for the EXACT time I wanted (usually some are a few minutes off). I even got Donals' Breakfastsaurus for the Saturday of that weekend at 8am for 5 people. That CM also commented about bookings being down.

Yes, I think we can surmise that bookings are down. Now where are those AP and FL Resident rates for fall??????

Also, I don't know how many people in FL will be able to take off and go to Disney in the next few weeks. Even though DS doesn't start to school for two weeks, next week I have to sign him up for after-care and he'll go meet his teacher, so the "pre school" stuff has started.

No AP Discount when I called at 7:am this morning..or any other Oct. discount.

As we get closer to Aug., it is beginning to look like last year. I think when they do release AP codes, the codes will be good through Dec.

Lori

I'd be a very happy woman if they were released through Dec., as we're going 12/3-12/11. I don't think I could take many more months of playing this waiting game!?!

I didn't call this am, because after my experience yesterday, I needed to sit back for a day..."Ethan" was quite rude when I called-sounded very annoyed to be asked about AP rates-I'm sure they're receiving many calls from people asking the same question, but what happened to that Disney charm?

I must say Amy Lynn was very nice this morming...actually checked, said not past August but did inform me on other offers for Sept ( stuff we already know) and did encourage me to book...they really must be told to try and get people to book without the discounts (but we know better:) )
Mouseavers does have a new post reminding that July 31 is the last day to book for August offers so the first week in August makes sense for new codes.

I booked the WL at the regualr rate and am just waiting for the AP rate for October. The CM lead me to do this to make sure I get a room. I've seen that many people wait for the rate to come out before they book, why is that?

While others have had good luck getting an AP rate applied to an existing reservation, others, including me, have not. I tried to apply an AP rate to an existing reservation at POFQ and the CM said she had to CANCEL the existing reservation and put in a new one at the AP rate. When she tried that, not all of my dates were available. I ended up with the AAA rate instead (not great) in order to get the dates I needed. Apparently only a certain number of rooms are set aside for the AP rate.

Since getting burned that time, I wait for the AP rates before reserving. I may not always get my first choice of resort, but at least I get something great!

Does Disney still offer Disney visa room discounts. I had one in June before switching to the AP rate. I think they came out in April, right before the AP rates. The AP's were like $10-$20 cheaper.

Deelam,
Another reason a lot of people wait to book is so that they don't book a room they know they can't afford at rack rates. Disney looks at how many rooms are booked before they decide on what (or how many) discounts to release. If bookings are high then they have no reason to release discounts. It's marketing, pure and simple. This is why I'm not booking yet. I don't want to hurt my chances of getting a discount.
Also as MEM said, a lot of people have reported not being able to apply the discount to their existing reservation.
I'm getting antsy about the trip getting close and no ressie, but I'm still going to hold out.

Im doing the same TexasErin.
I liken it to a staring contest between me and Michael Eisner.

AMEN!!!!

I'm not booking yet either. I even wonder if by not booking I might stand a chance at getting a postcard between now and my trip (pixie dust please:) ). I am sooooo antsy waiting for AP rates.

Let's band together and NOT BOOK without our AP discounts ::yes::

I am also waiting to book.

Doesnt matter where my friends stay POP or CBR... I would like to treat them to a Mod resort, but if AP codes dont come out they will be fine at POP.

I would like to book the darn thing though.... just to check it off my list.

We are going for three nights in October and for eight nights in December. We have not booked either stay at this point.
We are waiting on either AP or Fl resident rates coming out.....we are also wishing for a postcard!!

Because we don't want to make the room appear full thus decreasing the chance for AP rates and the number of rooms that will be discounted for AP rates. If your not willing to pay rack rates then you should wait.

I sent an email to Disney about the fact that I couldn't log into the passholder section of the web site. In my email I mentioned that I have been watching it for AP discounts in October because we will be going if we can get a discounted room. I got a response back today from them that they are aware of the problem and that it is affecting "a large number" of passholders. They are working to resolve the problem as soon as possible. She gave me the details of the codes available through end of August and suggested that I "keep a close watch" on the passholder section in the next few weeks for "late summer to mid fall" codes.

I'd be happy to keep an eye on the page...but I can't.
