Hi All,

With less than 30 days to go, I'm trying to figure out what we will need for clothes for our 7 night trip in Dec. I thought I was packing light and figured on doing at least one load of laundry while there, but now I'm wondering if I overpacked. Check out my list and tell me what you think:

Will wear:
Jeans
Sneakers
T-Shirt
Jacket

Carryon:
Bathing Suit
Shorts
Underwear

Checked Luggage:
Kids:
(3) Shorts
(1) Jeans
(1) Windpants/Capris
Extra Bathing Suit
(3) T-shirts
(2) Tank Tops
(2) Long-Sleeve Shirts
(1) Sweatshirt
(7) Underwear
(7) Socks
(3) Jammies
gloves/hat (just in case)
Baseball hat
Extra pr. Sneakers
Flip Flops

Parents:
(3) Shorts
(1) Jeans
(1) Capris
(3) T-shirts
(3) Tank Tops
(2) Long-Sleeve Shirts
(1) Sweat Shirt
(7) Underwear
(7) Socks
(3) Jammies
Extra pair sneakers
flip flops

Is this too much/not enough for a 7-night stay??? This is our "First" family vacation that didn't involve a tent!!

Thanks!

We have gone in Dec. several times and being from a colder climate we find that we might use a light jacket in the evenings but that is usually it. We are usually hot. I would cut down the long sleeves, go to 2 pairs of jammies and only 1 pair shoes and 1 pair of flip flops. Since you are all wearing jeans, don't pack and additional pair, chances are you will wear shorts and capri's not jeans. Check the projected weather just prior to your departure and adjust accordingly. Hat and gloves I would only take if some weird weather is predicted.

If you are planning on doing laundry you could cut a lot of this list in half. You have 5 short sleeve and 2 long sleeve packed - you could go to 2 t's, 1 tank and 1 long sleeve and 2 pairs of shorts for everyone. You also have an entire weeks worth of under clothes on this list that you could cut in half. Plan on everyone wearing the same bottoms twice and a new shirt daily. You cannot have too many socks - if they get wet, always have a spare pair with you.

We have gotten good at packing, the early years it looked like we were going camping.;) Now each family member has a duffle bag, if it doesn't fit into that duffle it does not go. We take an extra duffle with DH's and I's pillows along with the toiletries and a expandable duffle to be used to bring home stuff. When we go to FL we go for at least 16 or more days. We leave with 4 people and 5 bags, we return with 6 bags. We also carry our cameras in a back pack on board the airplane. We take 2 backpacks - one with the cameras and one with the books, snacks and emergency clothes, phone chargers, ipods & DS games etc...

Happy planning - have a great time!

You may want to wait to pack - we went in December one year and it was cold - it was about 40F! We ended up buying a blanket to snuggle under while waiting for fireworks! They were selling black magic gloves in the store for $8 a pair! You may need more pants and less shorts.

Absolutely, like I said - check the weather before you finalize your packing
