I know the offcial check-in time is 3:00pm. On most of our trips, we have been given a room way before 3:00. Appreciated but not expected. On our last trip, however, our room was not ready until 3:45pm. So my question is, what is the latest time you are guaranteed to be given a room assignment? Or is there no limit to when you can be assigned a room?

I've just been thinking about this with our next trip coming up. We waited around the hotel last time thinking we would have a room by 3:00. ( I think we checked in about 2:00) If we had known it would be later, we probably would have gone to a park for awhile instead of hanging around. I kept calling the phone # on the card they give you at check-in and they just told me to keep calling back every 15 min. The last person I spoke with finally told me they would check into the hold up and we finally got our room.

Any info or experiences will be greatly appreciated!! :goodvibes

I say just leave your luggage at the hotel, they will store it for you, and head to the park. If you feel you need to unpack, I would send my husband or myself back to the hotel later and do it. I just want to get to the parks.

Do you have to be all checked in before 3pm? If so that means we would have to leave our house by like 4am....

Nope, you can almost check in any time of day. From about 6AM until about midnight or later. Your room may be ready earlier in the day. Whenever we get there before 4PM (that's DVC latest room ready time), we head to the parks or go swimming.

We,ve always been lucky, in so much as we have gotten to the resort mid morning, not to get our rooms but rather our park tickets, and they have always had our rooms ready. I was given the impression that room allocation is done a few days in advance. Perhaps if the trip is booked through Disney they have your itinery and assign accordingly. If the people that checked out of your room did so late, left a big mess, or broke something it's going to take housekeeping longer to get it sorted out, not that should be an excuse, but perhaps that was the problem in your case.

Great to know we were so worried we were going to have to drag the girls out of bed in the wee hours of the morning. We would have just left the night before but my baby sister is graduating from high school and there was no way I was going to miss it.

We don't plan to do anything the first day but maybe just hang out by the pool or go to the food court and grab a bite before we head off to retire for the night. So this is good that we don't feel a need to rush. Although having never been to Disney before it is not like I will be sleeping anyway..LOL Well at least the first night..hahaha
