check in time

i know this might seem like a silly question but this will be our first time camping at the fort. i know check in time is 4pm but can you check in earlier.

Check in time for camping at FW is 1 p.m. I think check in for the cabins is 3 p.m.

If a site is available you can check in before 1pm. In Dec 2003 we arrived at 4:30am on a Friday and they had a site ready for us at about 11am.

We almost always check in early when we camp at FW. i'm leaving Saturday with my aunt and uncle to go to FW and I hope that we will be able to check in early since my uncle wants to try and leave home at 7:30am or 8:00am and we only live 2-2.5 hours away

Please keep in mind, however, that if you check in early your site may not be available, and you will be directed to park in the overflow lot and given a telephone number to call later for your site. Recently there have been some individuals who have been upset because their sites were not ready for an early check in. We usually check in early and only once has our site been ready. We make the best of the situation, however, and check our dog into the kennel, take the bus to the marina, the boat to WL and have an early lunch at Roaring Forks.

The last three trips we arrived at 10:30 am and no sites were ready untill after 1 pm. The last trip were couldnt fit into our 1st site and didnt get a site until 2:45pm.

We arrived on a Sunday morning about 8:30 am and we were able to set up at our campsite immediately. It was wonderful to get everything set up and still have time to enjoy the day.

thanks for the help i was a little confused with the check in time but 1pm isn't that bad. we'll be at hillsborough river state park the night before and didn't want to leave there until around noon anyhow.

we also always check in early, with the understanding that our site won't be available. We just park in the lot and head to the pools with a pre-packed cooler for lunch. Just enjoy the water while we wait for out site. Gives the kids a little fun before the work of setting up camp begins.
