I am planning a vacation for next August 20th-30th. On August 24th the rates go down from peak season to non-peak season. If I book it as an entire vacation, I will have to pay peak season for all nights. If I check-in the 20th, check out on the 24th and re-check-in on the 24th I will get the non-peak rate for the rest of my stay. Has anyone ever done this before and if so, how big of a pain is it? I do not want to be switching rooms and such especially that I am travelling with another family so it would involve two rooms. Also, it would throw off our plans on getting an Ultimate hopper pass.

I need some advice from anyone who may have done this in the past. We plan on staying at the POFQ so potentially it could save around $100 or so. If it is too big a headache, is it worth it to just eat the $100??HELP!!!!

I would suggest the two reservations. I saw this done many times at the FD. Usually we would just adjust the reservation so that we could have everything on one reservation with the lower rate. I cant guarantee they will do that though.
I would suggest with the 2 resvs have CRO note that this ia a Continuing Resv on both resvs. This alerts the RA to keep you in the same room.
I definitely would explain the situation to the fd when you check in. The other bad news is that the resorts dont get the resv until about 3days before your arrival.
As for the UMP. It sounds like you will be going to the parks for 11days. You might come out better with the annual pass, especially if there is a chance you might be coming back within the year.
Are you going to any non Disney parks or planning a resort day? If so UMP is not the ticket for you.
I am not a big advocate of the UMP because of their lack of flexibility. It causes so many problems for the guest and is hard to understand. The only days you can remove are the c/I and c/o day, so if you decide to go to IOA or Sea world you still pay to go to a Disney park on top of their admission. Unlike the PH passes where the days are good for future visits , the UMP unused days are gone forever. They are non refundable.
I dont now if I helped much. I wish there were more options for you.

I agree, do 2 reservations. Usually, if you tell them that you are doing this, thery will let you stay in the same room.

Also August is regular season (not peak) at some resorts up to August 24 and some deluxe resorts it's already value season

When I spoke to the Disney Club Reservations person she said they could not guarantee that we would be able to stay in the same room but said that they would make every attempt not to make us move.

We have been tossing around 7 day Hopper plus passes instead because we would like to see Sea World this trip and I am sure we could definitely use a day to rest. We will be there for 9 full days (not including c/i and c/o) so I think this will be a better option for us. It will give us an excuse to rest and enjoy the resort as well without running all the time. An AP would not be good for us because unfortunately we would not be able to make more than one trip this year.

Thanks for the help
