Check in procedures

This is our first camping trip to FW. Can someone please fill me in on the check-in procedures? Also, will they let you check in before the official check-in time? One more question, let's say on the day that we are checking-out, can we park our RV in the parking lot and finish some last minute touring in the parks?

As you pull into the campground, their will be a guard, asking for your name. , a very happy person. , who will check his list. He will then direct you into the checkin line. , which will take about 15 minutes, whom give you a bunch of info about the fort.Yes,if they are not busy, we have checked in early.Yes u can stay in their lot at the front of the fort. YEAAA ,ENJOY

If you check in early and your site is not ready, they will direct you to the overflow lot and give you a card with a phone number on it to call later for your site assignment. They will complete the check in proceedure, so you will have your resort id's and you can use the time to go to the parks, hang around FW, whatever. When you call and get your site, you just have to drive up to it and set up.

You are able to park in the overflow lot after checking out and go to the parks - your parking permit is good for the whole day you check out.

I would recommend checking in early if possible. It can get rather crowded in the afternoon during regular check in time.

Thanks for the info! Exactly my thought about checking in early because I hear it can get crazy around check in time. Anything to avoid lines is my new philosophy!

When we go down in June, our daughter is flying while we drive. She'll be there the day before us, saturday, and staying either at one of the Disney Resorts or someplace else, she hasn't gotten that yet. But anyway, can she check in for us in the morning Sunday to hopefully get a better site selection? Or do we have to be there with the camper before being assigned the spot? She will be on our roster of those staying with us at the FW. That could save us time and maybe get a better site in loop 15? Thanks.

Checking in early won't necessarily mean a better site. Site assignments are made and then distributed, not on a first come first served basis. The only edge you may have coming in early is that, if your site is ready and there is a more suitable one empty, you can switch to it if you call the desk from a courtesy phone at any comfort station. But then, you are assuming that everyone leaving that day has left by the time you arrive - not necessarily the case. There really aren't any bad sites, per se. There may be some slightly more desireable for whatever your personal reasons are, but unlike a lot of campgrounds, there really aren't any "dogs."

true to the switching sites, that is why we get there early, the last two time we had to switch sites because even though you tell them you have a slide they seem to forget they have trees that will keep the slide from opening, so we try and leave out early... to make sure that if we need to switch we can, this time we have friends coming down that want to pitch tent for a few nigths so I just want to make sure we have enough room...
