No and yes. Any seat you select 24 hours or fewer before departure has no extra cost associated with it; the chance of an exit row seat being available at that point is minuscule. If that's where you want to sit, the best advice you'll get is to pay for the seat in advance - but only if everyone in your party (no matter where they sit) meets AirTran's minimum age for exit row seating.
So no matter what, anyone in that seating must meet age requirement, right? Count us kit...have 2 kids!
Yes, this is copied from Air Tran's site:
Exit Row Seating. Exit row coach seating (with additional leg room) is also available for purchase. All customers choosing exit row seating (whether purchased in advance or assigned at check-in) must meet certain requirements to qualify for exit row seating. You must be:
15 years of age or older
Willing and able to help in the event of an emergency
Not traveling with an infant, children or pets
Able to speak and understand English
Able to lift 50 pounds
Not using a seat belt extender (which could get tangled in an emergency)

I actually just checked in for my flight tomorrow morning with AirTran. There was one priority seat left and I got it for free!![]()
Thanks for the info! I noticed that there is quite a bit of "priority" seating available on one of our flights...is that ALL exit row?? There are like 5 or 6 rows of "priority" seating...and does anyone know that if I try to select a seat for a child, and they are not allowed to sit there...will it tell me that? Thanks again!
