Well for our trip in September to the BCV, we'll be at my dh's parent's house the night before who live in Jax, Fl. We always leave early in the morning to get to Disney from their place but this year my baby will be with us and I'd hate for the room to not be ready when we get there (it usually has been ready whether we've gotten there at 8:00 a.m. or 3:00 p.m. at BWV or Poly, etc.-yes I know we've been very lucky) I know I'd be risking having to keep the baby occupied until 4:00 p.m. if we get there too early. I was thinking if we did get there and our room wasn't ready of going offsite and getting a cheap $30 room to hang out in until our room at the BCV was ready. Am I nuts? Any suggestions?

I would call the day before and ask about the possibility of an early check-in. It's possible they would have a room that is empty the night before that could be checked in early that they could block for you. Or call from your parents home in the morning and ask if there are any rooms available early. If they say no, you could wait to leave until later.

If you arrive and the room is not yet ready, you can certainly find a cool spot to relax someplace. Luggage may be left with Bell Services, board a bus or boat and head into a park or visit another resort.

It's best to assume the room won't be ready until after 4PM. If it's ready earlier, that's a bonus. If you need to have a room immediately upon arrival, better plan to arrive after 4.

Good Luck!

How about leaving after rush hour, having lunch at Beaches & Cream & then going swimming for a while until the room is ready? Or taking the stroller out on the boardwalk? Does the baby still take afternoon naps? Will the baby nap in the stroller? Will he/she nap in the car? My son always falls asleep in the car, which throws off his schedule!

I can't imagine sitting in an cheap offsite hotel when there are so many things to do at WDW!

Go ahead and check in, and then either go to the pool, or go to Downtown Disney and hang out. Depending on your baby's age, the baby might really like the bright colors at DD and there are plenty of places to get in out of the heat. Another option might be a character meal at one of the resorts. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies everyone! He'll be about 11 months old by the time we get down there. I was just worried about the heat and him needing a nap, but if he's tired he can sleep just about anywhere including the stroller (although sometimes we know he's tired but he won't want to sleep in his crib, but that's a whole other topic ;) ) We'll probably leave around noon from Jax which would put us there around 2:30 or 3:00 and hopefully the room will be ready - if not the DD (Rainforest Cafe!) or Beaches and Cream and walk around the BW ideas sound good. Thanks again!

We usually head right for Epcot and call to get our room number at 4:00. That way, our pre-check in is done, and we can just go to our room.

Go on over to the BCV and hang out in the TV room or the lounge room. The TV room is carpeted and quiet, so your baby may take a nap. The Lounge room (I forget the names of these rooms) has a hardwood floor, so it is noisier. Also it is right near the pool.

We waited here for our ride back to the airport on our departure day. My husband and son when swimming at the pool and I read a book in the lounge area.

Great idea thanks! I'll have to check it out :D
