Cheating on Rides

TJ - that is soooo awesome they did that for them!! How kind!!

I think that you're probably right - that the way Disney has the ages set up, almost all children can ride 99% of the rides by the time they bump up in the prices. That may be why Disney is not changing to height pricing as many of the other theme parks are - they have LOTS more thrill rides and minimal others, except kiddie rides. Disney's rides for the "taller" are few and far behind in comparison! I was much more upset with the park near us, b/c the price went up at age 5 - and lots of kids are not 48" at that point.

My sincere hope is that by the time my kids are age 10 they will be tall enough to enjoy those rides. My DD is barely on the chart, but she should. DS unfortunately has not been "on the chart" since 9 months of age and again, unfortunately, seems to be falling further "off" it of late (something I will definitely be discussing with doc btw!), so it could be a possibility that he would not be 48". Would we not do a Disney trip b/c of that? Probably not. Possibly delay a bit. But it still would kind of irk me to have to pay full price if he was not at that height.

I guess this height thing is just heavy on my mind lately, probably b/c as I said, it's getting "worse" so to speak. His weight is also very low - even for his low stature and that is also a concern to me. The child talks constantly about wanting to play football when he's older. I remember reading about the sign-ups (ages 8+) for Pee Wee in the summer I think - weight requirements were such that I HIGHLY doubt he'll make it, even at 10 or so. I'm already thinking about, as the time gets closer, evaluating the need in our community and surronding ones to form a small, joint league for the lower weight kids to play safely against each other. Off point totally, but i guess my mindset right now is just kind of "fight for him" mode!

Sort of related to the original topic - we're also dealing with the car seat thing. He's noticing that most of his friends are in booster seats. He mentions it, but is not bothered by it yet. And I think there will be others of Kindergarten age still in them. Problem is - we're not even close. We're looking, barring something totally unheard of in his young life, at years before he makes that change and I can really see it becoming a problem in a year or two! But, just like the original topic - Safety first!!!!

Sorry for my rambling!!

I'm a rule follower, I'll admit it. I would never try to get around the height requirement. We just went and my girls were tall enough for everything but my son wasn't. Oh well. There are some things that you have to wait to do and that is just the way it is. Gives him something to look forward to and me a reason to book another trip!

Don't worry Sandy my 10yo is still in a booster, no harness though, and not bothered by it at all.

Even if your kids don't hit 48" by 10 they only miss two rides- and one isn't a big a miss is IMHO Primeval Whirl. I think sometimes (collective) we miss recognizing all they fun we can't have by concentrating on the very few rides they can't ride.

Oh Yes - on Star Tours, if there are enough kids doing parent swap or if you ask and its not busy they will run a vehicle without motion so the 40" and unders can ride. In our case since we were doing child swap they also waited until my sil, nephew and my dd's were done so we could all ride together. My dd's were about as thrilled as my neice, one sat on either side of her. It was a highlight of my neice and my dd's trip for sure.

Buy him all new pants. Works like a charm everytime! :rotfl:

lol, you are probably right! Let's see, new school clothes for September... outgrown by December... yep, that sounds right!

If CM's are telling people that if they had 'taller heels' , that they would be able to ride, than tell me how it is breaking any rules or not a lesson to teach children. It's like an 'open-book' test. If the Teacher tells you that you can use the book to look up answer's, than it's not breaking any rules. It's more like following the system. JMHO
To which you're entitled... except it's not a valid comparison. The teacher makes the rules for the test; the Cast Member does NOT make the rules for attractions. They're supposed to enforce the existing rules; apparently, not all do but that does not make it reasonable to cheat.

I refuse to pay full "adult" price for my child if they are not able to ride anything more than the kiddie rides and a few others!!
There are height restrictions on fifteen rides; there are over eighty rides, shows, etc. among the four major parks. Besides, chances are in six and eight years, respectively, your children (at age 10/Disney adult) will be tall enough to ride everything.

My friends' 2 year olds will be able to go on more rides than my 5 year old, yet they would be free and we would be paying not just Junior price, but FULL "adult" price! Luckily they changed the policy!
But now you're not refering to Walt Disney World.

And then the other ones were one or two theater shows. As squirmy as my child is his chair at the dinner table moves around more than those theater chairs
Theater shows? You mean Star Tours and Body Wars?

For the record: height (and other) restrictions are not set by the theme or amusement park, they're set by the ride designers. Alternately, park admission costs are not set by ride designers, they're determined by the theme or amusement park owners.
