I booked 4 tickets through cheaptickets.com (one way) about a month ago from Las Vegas to Buffalo. We want to change our tickets to fly out of Phoenix, AZ.

Cheap Tickets will charge $50.00 per person ($200.00 for 4) plus Delta will charge $150.00 for a total of $350.00 to change OR cancel the flight. Ouch. I only paid $531.00 total. Not so cheap after all. I realize this is my own fault for not reading the fine print but nevertheless be very sure of your dates if you book through them.

The most I will get in credit is about $181.00. Either way I am eating $350.00if I change or cancel.

I just got off the phone from customer service and the guy was a sweetheart but there was nothing more he could do for me.

Moral of the story is book through the actual airline.

Heavy sigh.

Wow - tough lesson learned. Always check the fine print! We book with airlines that allow changes (even though we always think we won't need to!) like SouthWest. We've stayed away from JetBlue for the same reason.

I have used Cheaptickets to find the optimal routing / times, and then went to the airlines website to book the actual trip. This gets you the best of both worlds.

Some Airlines are no better, I just had to cancel a flight S/B to MCO with Air Canada. Tango..non refundable..non transferrable. Can Pay $75 and keep as a credit for 1 year with any applicable fare differences that this is awarded to due. Not worth it. It's for my BIL and he likely won't use it.

Westjet...N/B..cancelled...lost $50 plus taxes. The rest ($31) put on acct for one year also. This is where many of the Airlines are making some money now!
