So AAA told me that Disney does not allow discounts and that I should avoid places like Cheaptickets.com as my hotel room would probably get cancelled. Any truth to that? Looking at rooms only and there is a nice discount over what AAA can get (which is just booking off of the disney website)

No truth at all...I've booked rooms through Cheaptickets and Orbitz and have never had an issue with a reservation.

Thanks for the replies.

So I don't get the advantage to a travel agent? AAA is just booking through the Disney site and price I got through smallworld vacations was considerably higher than booking on my own.

Just booked another room for WDW through Orbitz yesterday. It's already linked to MDE and I've ordered my magic bands and did online check in.

Just stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter last month through Cheaptickets. It worked great, and I would definitely do it again.

When I emailed to ask about my confirmation number to add to MDE, they emailed me back with the number in about half an hour. Very happy with that prompt customer service!

Just booked my second time with Orbitz and no problems. You do have to call or email now to get your Disney confirmation # and most of the resorts now have the silly $25 cancellation fee with them (which you don't have if you go directly through Disney) but I'm already linked on MDE and I book about 2 hours ago. I got a lower rate through Orbitz then the Disney discount but had a 20% Orbitz discount so I got a moderate resort for around $136 a night. Can't beat that. You do have to go on MDE and change the address, they put the Orbitz address but it takes about 1 minute. The big travel sites buy blocks of rooms, same rooms, same benefits.

Somebody at AAA fed you a Bologna Sandwich. (And not accidentally, that's a flat out lie.) I had 2 successful onsite stays with Orbitz last year, one at AKL, one at Disneyland Grand Californian, I stacked Disney's discount with an Orbitz discount code and saved a bundle of cash! (The downside is that you have to pay the total upfront.)

Thanks all. I booked the first week at akl through orbitz with the 20% off code plus the week was already marked down, for a really nice price. Now looking at port Orleans for week two. Need a good new code.
I was amazed at how playing with the dates could really change the price. Some good prices at wilderness lodge and Coronado springs.
But I planned to stay at the value resorts and the "deals" are costing me more money.

I booked my room through cheaptickets.com. I was able to use a 20% off coupon on top of the already summer discounted room. For 4 nights, that extra 20% off made a huge difference.

Dsimon do you have the code to share or was it a one time use?

Thanks Dsimon. I hope there are some good codes coming out in the next few days so I can get it all scheduled. 16% isn't bad though! Anyone know if I book and get a better discount, do I have to rebook the whole thing or if they will do a refund?

Is there away to check each resort for the nightly price? Some are discounted at the beginning of our trip, some are at the end. Would be nice if I could see the entire time. When I put in all of our dates, it shows no availability, so we will definitely need to do a split stay.

I just booked Pop with Orbitz at whatever the already applied discount was (it was the same price as a FL Resident rate through Disney), plus a 15% code. I did it through the app, which CLEARLY states FREE CANCELLATION, while the website does not. I took screenshots, but my confirmation email also states free cancellation. Plus, I got an extra 2% Orbucks using the app.
I've booked through Orbitz before, when it was advantageous, and have had no problems. There is no reason that your reservation should be cancelled because of how you booked (barring any major unforeseen circumstances)

You can search night by night to get the per night price. It's not exactly convenient, but it works.

I've booked through Orbitz twice for Disney, and quite a few times for other places. Never had a problem, and like the savings, and the fact that I "earn" a couple of bucks while we're staying at one place, that can be applied to the next, plus the percentage off code.

Sign up for Ebates and then use Orbitz through the Ebates site. You will have access to all the Orbitz discounts and coupon, PLUS you'll get a percentage back from Ebates. The last time I booked, Ebates was giving 8% back at Orbitz; that was a kickback check of about $60 from Ebates!
