My fiancee will be getting the direct eurostar in April, and it would be best for her to stay night before however everything is coming in so expensive, even the travelodge is £140!! is there anywhere cheaper she could stay a bit further a field and maybe get a train into kinga cross?

What date would she be staying? There's http://www.laterooms.com/en/hotel-reservations/4998_norfolk-towers-hotel-london.aspx in Paddington, King's Cross is on the same tube line from there, very easy to get to. And I can see as low as £51 for some days.

I got an overnight stay in a triple room in London Kings Cross Royal Scott for £26.50! It's apparently a ten minute walk to the station, and although it doesn't look like the nicest accommodation in the world (!!), for that price and one night I'm not complaining. I booked around 2 months before we go.

Theres also the premier inn at stratford ~ from there its a 15~minute javelin train to st pancras. the fare on the javelin is 6 pounds each way but if you get the hotel at a good rate it might be worth it?

my wife and i stayed in covent garden last year in a travelodge for £29 a night. so shop around and im sure you will a much cheaper room than £140.

what date do you need the hotel for OP?

I don't know where your fiancee would be travelling from, but would getting to Ashford the night before be an option? She could get on the direct Eurostar there.

We stayed at the Tune Hotel King's Cross for one night, prior to catching the Eurostar. It only cost £60 and it's really close to the station. The room was tiny but modern and clean.

shes going to be coming from Birmingham, ill have a look at ashford, is it much further to get to than London?

I think its about 30 minutes further on the train to ashford from london. have you looked at the tune hotels in london? i,ve also stayed at the kings cross onr, thought it wad fab value for money.

Yeah i have looked at the Tune which is coming uo at £70.00, ideally I only wanted to spend like £30.00 as thats what ive always paid when we have stayed at either travelodge euston and kings cross but for some reason theu are really expensive this time!

Unfoutunatly with London rooms the real bargains espiacally travel lodge you have to book in the sales or way ahead will have a £25 room at kings cross for may and a£36 room at Waterloo for august both of these have been booked way in advance you may get something last minute onsomeshere like booking .com hope you can get sorted x

There are travelogue rooms at heathrow for that date at£21 or uxbiridge which is £40 it's at the end of the tube line so you can get into London easy

We stayed at the London Kings Cross Royal Scott last Wednesday night. The bedroom and bathroom were both very clean but the bed was a bit on the soft side. Our room over looked the court yard so was not effected by the traffic noise outside.

For a central London hotel its very good value for money.

Oh, thank you! Good to hear as all the trip advisor reviews are a bit scary! As long as it is clean I really don't mind. At the minute I'm in student halls so ear plugs are my must have, I will be packing them in case our room is noisy. :thumbsup2

We stayed here last March and had a room right on the road, but didn't hear a single thing at night. So if you can get it for a good price, I'd definitely recommend it. :thumbsup2

I second the kings cross royal scott hotel, we have stayed multiple times and if you can get it for a good price, you cant go wrong!!

Shame its so expensive for my dates.

I was looking at the heathrow travelodge but werent sure if id end up spending just as much getting them to heathrow and back.

I have found studio2let apartment for £68 which seems pretty good.
