Cheapest Way From WDW to Sanford

We're trying to price out transportation options for our upcoming trip. We can save a bundle by flying out of Sanford International instead of MCO. (We've used this airport before and know that it's out of the way but that doesn't bother us.)

I'm just trying to figure out what the cheapest ground transportation from WDW to Sanford would be. What are our options besides renting a car? Does anyone have experience with hiring a ride? What about shuttles? We just need the one way ride.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Last time we flew through Sanford, a town car was roughly $100 one way (think double the distance to Sanford as you would need to get to MCO). It wasn't bad at all the one time we used it.

Another time we rented. For probably less than half the price of the town car you can do a one-way car rental from the Car Care Center or the Dolphin on property, and you drop it off right at the Sanford terminal garage.

The drive to Sanford was easy peasy - Osceola Parkway right out of WDW to SR-417 to the airport. Nice empty road (toll road).

This is helpful. Renting a car is definitely cheaper. We could get a car for the three nights we're at Disney for slightly more than a town car. However, a town car seems to be a lot less hassle. I'm glad to know that it's not out of the question. Certainly cheaper than paying more to fly from MCO and having to leave on Magical Express hours earlier than necessary. Do you remember the company you used for the town car?

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

I just got a car on Priceline for 12.00/day for our upcoming trip. We're flying into Sanford, too.

Wow. That's really good. Which company was it with?

I bet you are picking it up from the same location as you are dropping it off? We wouldn't be.

SnoopyTwo--we are also flying into and out of Sanford. Any tips for the Priceline car rental? I have never used Priceline. We arrive at 10:00 pm and not all counters are open. Do you get to put arrival times for Priceline?

edit I did go to the site and the prices advertised were higher than my one with coupons that I have reserved now so did you use the name your price? Any other tips?

Could someone that is familier with the whole 'car rental with Priceline' please post a 'how to' when using this??? I'm not familier and it would be nice if someone could explain how it works for everyone else on the board.

Sorry... DH made the ressie that time so I don't have the info. I do remember a grocery stop was an option, and they guaranteed the same driver to and from, if you did a round trip.

You simply place a bid for the daily rental price, along with the start date and end date (And times), and the class of car you are bidding on.

If you are not successful, you can change the car class and rebid, or wait 24 hours and bid again.

Bid price does not include taxes and fees or insurance. I have found that priceline works best when you bid near your travel date. If you win, then you could cancel a reservation with someone else. Priceline wining bids are non-refundable.

I have rented a few times, but have booked more than 20 different locations of hotels, and a few flights.
