Cheapest transportation from Airport to Universal?

Finally have my trip set, now just finishing the details. Universal has a shuttle, but by *my* cheapskate standards, it's a bit pricey. Anyone know of the cheapest way to get from the airport to the Royal Pacific for a family of four? Also, later in the week I need to get from there to Disney's Pop Century.
Thanks for any tips that might be offered!

The transportation board is the best place to ask this question. I will tell you that we used Sunray Transportation earlier this month and they are tops on my list for a transportation service. They stopped at Albertson's so we could pick up drinks and snacks for our room. Bob picked us up in a Yukon that was more comfortable than a towncar and it was pristinely clean. He was very friendly and we'll use him again. We paid $90 R/T from MCO and tipped him $10 each way. There is a coupon on www.mouseforless.com that will reduce it to $80 R/T, I think. Sunray is at www.sunraytransportation.com.

Hitchhiking may be the way to go. from what I hear that is the cheapest option. My advice is to a search and look for the best deal. Look for coupons.

Cab costs about $35. You can pick up a van cab at the airport. The cab to Disney is about the same.

i did the cab thing for $25 one way.

i left before rush hour and the roads were clear/ no traffic.

time adds on to cab fares

Your cabbie probably took a better route as well. Orlando cab drivers can be ripoff artists. Our trip was with clear roads and no traffic too. Mine did include the tip though.

If you factor in the $$ you will save if you do a grocery stop vs getting all of your meals/snacks/beverages on site, a car service is the way to go. With a family of 4, it will likely be same cost or cheaper than the shuttle. I am trying SunRay on my next trip because of the high recommendations on these boards. $82 r/t plus tips--usually 20%. You need to mention a code to get the $82 rate, otherwise it is $90.

A family of 2 adults and 2 kids on Mears--$26 r/t for each adult, $19 r/t for each kid--total = $90 before tip. No grocery stop, and the inconvenience factor of the shuttle vs. having someone meet your party at the luggage area.

I have a question about cabs from MCO. I will need to take a cab from MCO to Celebration. There are alot of cabs sitting outside the baggage claim area. Should I just grab anyone? What would be best? TIA

There is a dispatcher there who will direct you to a cab depending on how many people you have in your party.

Thanks damo. Do you know approx. how much a cab is to Celebration from MCO? TIA

I am doing the same thing in Sept. (going from MCO to Royal Pacific then to Pop Century a few days later). There will only be two of us, but we will be renting a car from Alamo, because we can pick it up at MCO and return it at Disney. We will be renting the car for 3 days, and by using codes that are posted on www.mousesavers.com we will be able to rent the car for less than $70.00. Of course, then we have the added expense of paying to park at Royal Pacific. Depending on how long you are staying at RP, this might be a bit more expensive for you, but if you factor in that you have the option to go off site for meals whenever you want and you can make more than one grocery stop (once on the way to RP, then again on the way to Pop Century), this might be an option for you to check out.
