I found super cheap airfare from Greensboro, NC- Orlando/Sanford on Allegiant Air. I would love to fly and not have to make the 8 hour drive but rental car prices are almost as high as the airfare!:crazy2:

What is the least expensive car rental you have ever gotten for a week or so in Orlando? Any tips?

I've already checked hotwire and priceline and the cost is close to $300 for 9 days.

TIA!

try mousesaver.com, there are a lot of florida rental codes. also try budget.com using the dis code.

Try "discountfloridacarrental.com"

We are spending 1 week in Ft Myers in August, & so far, I get the best rate from the above site.

Go to the Transportation board here on this website. Click on the Official XXX Rental Car Thread --- The XXX will be the month you looking to travel. There disney folks tell the codes they have used to secure the best rates. I traveled for 10 days to Orlando. Got a Budget Rental mini van for 10 days for $234 after taxes and fees. Used a Southwest Airlines code plus the $35 off code from American Airlines. If I were a Costco member I could have used that code and saved about $14 more bucks.....

FYI, a solid 99% of the codes listed there are not Orlnado exclusive. They will work at your local rental places and other airports, ofteh at a BETTER rate than at MCO.

Transportation board has good info on it, so this question would best be answered there.

That being said, here's the advice you'll get there: almost universally, you don't get the best deals on rental cars until just a few weeks before your trip. Most people suggest booking something you live with when you plan you trip, but 14-21 days out from your vacation, start looking again. For example, I paid something like $190 for a full size for 8 days last October. Same general reservation right now is over $400. If you look for a reservation a few days from now, you'll see the going rate is more like the $190 I paid last year.

This is just the way the rental cars handle pricing: ridiculously high rack rates way far out, then put the discounts out for just the next few weeks.

How did you get a deal that great? I have tried different discount codes on here and the best I can find is a minivan for 13 days is high $500's with discount) instead of mid $600's (without discount).:confused3

Priceline...name your own price. I normally look at Hotwire, check their price and bid about $7.00 less. Always get it.

Also- try for a full size. The mid size/compact always seem to be more then the full size.

We are flying into Sanford as well. We are staying on property so I did a one day rental and I am returning the car to a Downtown Disney hotel. Budget with the dis code is the best I have found so far. We are flying out of MCO so we do not need a car to get to the airport. From Sanford we take the toll roads to Disney. It costs more but is a very easy drive.

We got ours in June for just under $17 a day, we signed up for Alamo and we used an Entertainment coupon as well.

i got a compact car for 8 days from Dollar for 123 with taxes and fees. It was a city special that was listed about 1 week before my trip. I used the transportation forum mentioned earlier to get codes. Just keep checking something will pop up!

Got a full size for $14 per day + fees from Avis for 12 days using Priceline for our late August trip.
