Not something we can really afford to do, so the aunts and uncles have looked into chipping in together for DD...anyone seen any Black Friday ads for this? I actually would rather get it on-line and tried Wal-Mart but they are out of stock and not posting the price. Any savvy shoppers out there?
TIA,

Pam

Are any of you educators?

There are discounts available with proof.

these items rarely, if never, go on sale. The price dropped earlier this year on these items

Nope, I'm not a teacher....I saw the thread...They discussed giving her the $$$ and she can wait and see if it goes on sale after the Holiday...but they decided they would rather have her open it..not to mention it is hard to find at some places...especially the color she likes. Thanks all,

Pam

I ordered a mini ipod from www.apple.com a few weeks ago through the educational link. It went right through w/ my DD's school info. It was $229 plus tax and shipping. When you purchase the ipod from apple.com you have the option of getting the mini engraved. It takes a little longer to arrive but it's worth it. I also bought a leather case from www.senacases.com Hope this info helps.

Apple's website, www.applestore.com is having a sale tomorrow (Black Friday). I believe last year it was 10% off iPods and iPod accessories. HTH!

I read on another thread that apple.com were having a sale on i-pods and mini i-pods. The mini i-pods were $228 and no shipping. I think that's great!!

I just checked and they are still $249 unless you go through the educational link. They are offering free shipping though!

The $228 mini iPod sale was a 1-day thing, Black Friday (11/26) only.

I used the educational link, they had my son's school on there, and it IS for him. It appeared to me that it was for students as well as teachers. I did not place it as if I was ordering it for a school.

so no problems once you entered to purchase on the educational link? Both my kids schools are listed but there was something specific about being eithre a teacher or officer on PTA...will have to go back again. I do like the free engraving...that's pretty cool...Muffy, how much longer does it take to ship if getting engraved?
Thanks for the help everyone..looks like it may fall into palce for DD. Now those gift cards for downloading the songs...CompUSA had the Ipod and a $25 card for $250 on Black Friday...but they were gone in 10 minutes...crazy!

Ellen, I just read your message and went to www.amazon.com and the mini ipods are coming up $234.14 (free shipping)! I noticed if you have an amazon visa the minis are $204.00.

I am a member of the Hotwire Savings Club. The mini ipod is selling at Circuit City for $249.00. I ordered 10 $25.00 gift cards. With the $5.00 rebate I will receive, the Ipod will end up costing me $200.00 plus tax. I thought long and hard also about how to get the best deal and this was the most economical alternative.

Thanks for all the suggestions...I passed the info along and I think they are going to order thru Apple using my sisters homeschool/educator discount as they would like to get the Ipod engraved for free. I just hope it arives in time!

I ordered from the website with the engraving, on Thursday night/early Friday morning, and already got a notice that it was shipped. It has not arrived yet though. As long as I get them by Christmas, I am happy.
