I need to know where is the cheapest place to get trip insurance and what all does it cover? I know we can get it with our AAA package for over $60.00 per person, but need to know if anyone has used any other company with good results that doesn't cost a arm and a leg? Also how long before trip do you have to purchase it?Does it include if the airlines, etc. Thanks

this site has various plans from various companies to insure various types of trips. You can compare the different plans right on there. Be sure to read the entire policy and fine print before purchase for what exactly it will and wont cover.

If you are booking a Disney trip (other than a Disney cruise) then I recommend just insuring your airline tickets. Disney's cancelation policies are very generous and you don't lose much money, even if you cancel last minute. If you are not staying at a Disney hotel, check your hotel's cancelation policy, usually you'll only lose 1 night's hotel cost and that's only if you cancel just before check-in. Just hold off on buying the park tickets until you know for sure you can go (or just buy them at the gate).

If this isn't a Disney trip and the penalties are high for caceling, or if it is a cruise of any kind (including a Disney cruise) then insuring the whole trip makes sense. As the previous poster stated, just be sure to read the whole policy and make sure it covers what you need covered. Also make sure you get pre-existing conditions included, if possible. Usually to get pre-existing conditions covered, you need to buy the insurance within 15 days of making the 1st deposit (or if you are just insuring airline tickets, buying the tickets).

Would any of these work for if a hurricane made you have to leave early or stay longer? We were there during Jeanne and we had to stay longer and foot the bill, but we did get extra park ticket for the day it was closed and also we were at the Contomporary towers and the front dest was very helpful and even gave us a good rate.Have any of you used either of these companies before and if so,how did it work out? Thanks

You really need to read through the policies listed on that site to make sure the one you want has the coverage you need. I bought through that site for a trip in Feb 2011 so have not had to make a claim and hope that I would not haave to. I needed specific insurance that would also cover cancellation due to military duty so I had to read through all the policies I was interested in to make sure the one I bought covered that. Usually the policies cover for different cancellations/delays not extensions of a trip.

After comparing Disney's Trip Insurance Company with other companies that cost less I discovered that they cost less because they offer less coverage. Please look past the price and compare the coverage before deciding. I found that Disney's Trip Insurance offers the best coverage for the price.
