Some friends are going to WDW for their honeymoon. They are young and the budget is tight. We've used our DVC points as their gift from us, so that covers their stay. They plan to brown bag their meals, with only 1 splurge if they can manage it. They will be there from Sun. afternoon to Thur. 5 pm.
Does anyone have ideas on how to get the biggest bang for their park ticket dollars and keep it "reasonable?"

Have them sign up for the newsletter from mousesavers for the link to undercover tourist. Skip hoppers.

I second this.

Also, just another budget tip...they can get free cups of ice water at the counter service places and if they do purchase some meals, they are plenty big enough to share.

Use of your DVC...that was a very nice gift to them! :cloud9:

Donate to Florida Children's Hospital. Different gift levels come with different tickets.

Four day tickets are $243 (plus tax), five day are $251.

As another poster mentioned, getting them in advance through Undercover Tourist, especially with the Mousesavers.com link is probably the best price.

The procedure for donating to Florida Hospital is not a good idea, as the tickets are one-day tickets and cannot be upgraded, so for four days it would cost $300 and five would be $375 (per person)

Warn them to not buy them from eBay, CraigsList, or any street vender in the Disney area. You cannot tell by looking at a ticket what is actually on it, especially if it has been used. If they get invalid tickets they will have to pay full price at the gate and then attempt to get a refund from the seller (which may be impossible).

If you go to the locked sticky Everything About WDW Tickets in the TPA&S Forum, especially Post #20, you can get a lot more information. An easy way to get to the sticky is by clicking on the link in my signature.

Have friends and family buy Disney gift cards or maybe one of the major credit card companies gift card. They can use these on there vacation. What a great gift you have given to them. Best of luck!

5-day MYW tickets through Undercover Tourist (with the Mousesavers newsletter discount) are $252, tax included. A 4-day ticket is the same price. This is really the best deal I've seen. We just got our tickets from them in the mail today for our trip next month :thumbsup2

the cheapest way is signing up for mousesavers.com newsletter and then going to the undercovertourist.com link. Definitely don't get park hopper (or non-expiring tickets). Definitely brown bag with lunch and snacks. A hamburger alone is almost $10. Bring one water bottle each day and refill with cups of water from counter service. They can also buy the drink flavor packets to mix with the water since the water is sometimes not that good (but better than buying bottle water at the parks). Also another way to maybe save if they have time, apply for a disney visa card. If you look around you can get $100 credit on your statement as long as you make at least one purchase on the card. Then they will also be able to go to the disney visa character meet and greet in epcot and get a free 5x7 picture. Also to get the most bang for your buck, they must be at the park when it opens. This is critical because you can get a lot done in the first hour or two when the park opens.
