Looking for the best prices airline to fly to Orlando in January!
Either out of Toronto or Buffalo.
we flew southwest in April to Disney but the price is like $350 more on their site for January!

I've been checking Southwest, Air Tran....Who else should I check.
My husband won't book with places like Expedia, Priceline!

It has to be direct flight as well! I'm too paranoid about connecting flights..

If you will not take a connecting flight you are limiting your "deal" options. Air canada can have some deals in january but by the time you add in the 200+ dollars in taxes it is no deal. We have always taken connecting flights and have been lucky to get $59 and $69 deals making it less than $700 for a family of 4 to fly out of buffalo. The weather has been shaky some years but with some pixiedust we have always made it. Southwest, Airtran, Jetblue and Delta have been our best bets the last couple of years.

Jetblue has a direct flight once a day - so no choice in timing. I have to agree with the direct flight route though - the one time we had a connecting flight in JFK we ended up delayed there for 6 HOURS ugh! Winter and non-direct don't go well together unless you are really lucky!
Good luck with your search. We're going in January as well and at this point it looks like we're driving. We've never paid more than $800 for the four of us in the past four years - this year seems to be very different!

Thanks..Can't risk any delays in a connecting flight..we are heading for a 7 day Carnival Cruise then a week at Disney when we return to Port Canaveral! If we were heading to Disney first we could risk a delay!

Don't want to start out a 2 week holiday with a bump!

You can find the best rates if you fly mid week. You probably won't find many (or any) deals if you are looking to fly close to New Year's Day or the Martin Luther King Jr holiday weekend (Jan 19). I would be extremely shocked if you were able to find cheaper rates flying out of Toronto than Buffalo no matter what date you fly.
As others have mentioned non stop flights to MCO are available from BUF on SW, Air Tran, Jet Blue. Prices do fluctuate so keep watching fares. You can set it up through yapta.com to have them watch fares on JetBlue for you for specific flights...doesn't work with SW though, not sure about Air Tran.
I have never been able to stay awake long enough to try it, but I have read that they sometimes drop fares after midnight (maybe 2 am) on Tuesday night/Wed morning.
If you are planning on a rental car, try checking rates flying into a different city (not Orlando), such as Tampa.
Good luck!

If you're set on a direct flight, I wouldn't book with AirTran right now. They've been changing their schedules a fair bit over the past few months, and some people have complained that their nonstop flight times have changed drastically. AirTran has been good about moving passengers to whatever flight works best for them, but if they only have one nonstop flight per day, and they move it to a time that won't work for you, then you're stuck.

You might also want to look for flights out of Rochester. It's only about an hour past Buffalo, and I've read reports of people getting good deals out of there.

I have no personal experience with Sunwing but they had non stop flights from Toronto to Orlando on for $341 return (taxes incl)...I'm not sure if the sale is still on but I know that price was good in January.

Being Janaury, and not knowing the snow conditions. I don't really want to risk driving to Rochester. It takes us 35 min from our door to the buffalo Airport!

Flying from Toronto, for 3 of us, it is $1000 all taxes and fees in. We leave on a Saturday and return on a Friday.

Pros for us were: direct flight, on-board movies, and a hot meal/snack on the way. And we arrive in Orlando at 11:10 a.m. so we have a full afternoon and evening at Disney on the 1st day. And our Disney specialist says she has flowing Sunwing many times and they rarely (if ever) change their flight times......so fingers crossed that this stays true!!

In April we flew Southwest $627 for the 3 of us Fri-Fri to Orlando. Direct Flight. Great price.
Great service! Super easy check in. No customs to deal with at the airport!

Takes us about 45min from our door to the airport in Buffalo

We priced it at the time and it would be like $1485 for the 3 of us out of TO. Mind you we didn't check Sunwing !
Only major carriers.
I had no idea who to check besides the big guys. Air Transat , Air Canada!

Right now I can book a flight on Air Tran - Direct out of Buffalo for $840 US for the 3 of us! equals about $892 Canadian!

We Always fly southwest In may we flew for 54 dollars a person ech way and this Oct we got it for 159 return taxes included! Just over 600 for 4 of us return on a direct flight. I say SW all the way I have NEVER payed over 1000. return , direct flights for 4 ever

I would wait and book with Southwest....their flights usually come down to something reasonable. What days are you trying to fly out and return on?

Our Cruise leaves on the 17th. we were planning on coming to Orlando on the 15th or 16th.
I was wondering if we should wait a bit seeing how its 4 months away to see if the pricing drops!!
thanks for your help!

For sure! I would wait......typically the rates should come down. I did check a few minutes ago....they are $129.00 each way(or $279.00 round trip), which still isn't too bad! I would think that they should at least go to $109 or less, but with the fuel costs right now, you never know.
