Cheapest AAA membership

I have to purchase a membership in order to get the savings on my rack rate room (we arrive 3/28). With all of the experience out there I thought I'd ask - Where do you get the best rate. I saw a thread here that quoted $60, online it was $99, a local office said $71. The local office said if a had a promotion code, which I don't, the fee would be waived I realize we aren't talking about major bucks here but every little bit helps and the quotes are all over the place.

If I'm not mistaken, each club sets it's own prices, so it would depend on which club you join. Also, there are 2 levels of membership -- a basic plan and a premium plan (I think they have other names, but it escapes me right now) and the basic is cheaper. You only need the basic plan to get the discounts -- the premium just has extra towing and other benefits. Also, if you add a spouse/partner to the plan, there's an extra charge for that. We live in NC and have the premium plan and it costs us $98 each year for the two of us to be on the plan. Don't know anything about promotion codes -- never heard of AAA waiving the fee entirely.

Often there are new member discounts. Ask about those.

I joined in January via the web site www.aaa.com. There was a web-based promotion and they waived the $15 initiation fee. My membership in the Mid-Atlantic AAA cost $57.

for Chicago AAA 1 person membership is 54.00, for spouse 21.00 prices are this year's renewal price.

The cost for my basic membership in my area is $42/year (Mid-Atlantic).

Basic here is $35 for individual/$50 with spouse.

I think it also depends on what state you live in too. Here in MI I am pretty sure I paid 48 for the year. Then they were offering a bouns to add a spouse. Normally 24 but was half off for 12. So I paid 60 for the year with spouse.

I have the $60.00 here in S. Florida, for the Basic plan. I was able to save around $150.00 for rooms, in Value season at a Value resort.

We have the basic in Alabama. It is $45. We just used them for towing this week!! Even with basic it is free towing for the first 3 miles and then $2/mile after that. My daughter blew a tire. It was less than 3 miles so it didn't cost a thing.

New Jersey is 44 if they waive the 10.00 fee. I got 5.00 off for the home show. So I paid 39.00 basic

There must be different NJ memberships. I live in Union County and my basic membership this year was $61! The ONLY reason we joined was to get the discount on a WDW pkg, with the $25 Disney Dollars they offered in January.
AAA did save us $ on vacation, and I love being able to order maps online too!
