Cheaper to rent a car onsite rather than airport?

We're planning a February trip and considering renting a car for only part of the trip. Is it cheaper to rent a car onsite at WDW than to rent at the airport or is the cost about the same? Also, is it more costly to rent as a walkup than to make advance reservations?

The answer to your question is "it depends".

Sorry that isn't any real help but the price of rental cars varies according to how busy that particular location is and how many available cars they have. To determine which works better for you, you'll need to try all the major companies for the particular dates you have in mind.

You may find the sticky about on-site car rental companies to be helpful.

Also, keep in mind that prices do change as you get closer to your vacation so keep checking. If you find a lower price you can cancel/modify the earlier reservation to take advantage.
