Cheaper Ding for Different Dates

Ok... If I flinch and buy tickets now for certain dates in November and a DING comes out for slightly different dates around the same time, can I take the DING and get credited for the difference of the original booking? What if the original booking is an internet special or some other 'non-refundable' selection?

If you buy tickets then see a Ding that is cheaper, what you need to do is cancel the first reservation, get a SW credit, then purchase the new Ding fares using the SW credit. The remaining credit will have to be used within one year from the date of the original purchase.

The best way to go about cancelling and rebooking is to select the Ding fares all the way up to when you need to select form of payment.

Then you need to open a second window and go to Travel Center and select "cancel reservation"

Enter in the original confirmation number and cancel the reservation. You will then have a SW credit (ticketless travel funds)

Go back to the first window and select "use ticketless travel funds" as your form of payment (you will need the original confirmation number and the name of the person that made the original ressie for that)

You should then see that the TTF were applied and see the difference left on SW credit for future use.

You need to be quick though since the Ding fares can sell out quickly

There's also an option on your itinerary to "change reservation." I used it today to rebook the same flight at the Summer Sale prices. I didn't have to open two windows, just pushed the button and the selection table showed up. It was very convenient. I just wished I had been quicker to lower the price on both PVD to MCO, as well as MCO to PVD. Still the price came down to $183 rt. Gotta love SWA

this will only work for sales or price decreases though....not for Ding fares.
