Sorry to keep bothering you guys, but does anyone know from experience, which airport (LAX,SNA etc) is cheaper to fly into??? I know SNA is closer to Disneyland, but does have a cheaper rate (rountrip)??? We are just paying for flight and car together, and park tickets separately, using DVC points for Disneyland hotels!!! Comes out cheaper than package!!! Any suggestion or advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Also, who did you book from (AAA, expedia, cheap or walt disney travel company), found AAA has the cheaper rate, 318.00 roundtrip!!!

No one of the area airports and no one of the travel websites or agencies has universally cheaper air fare. I have never had any quote for air fare through Disney be the cheapest, however.

You have to check em all and check several services. Note that you must also check some of the discount carriers on their own websites.

Check em all and if one is significantly lower than the others, take it. If not, take Orange County.
Also check days in and around your dates if you're still flexible. We moved our flights from Fridays to Saturdays and halved the cost.

Honestly for me I have been trying to see what march 08 fares are gonna be and book for my next trip, but it's still to soon as they have not opened that far. I did try late jan 08 which is open, and tried checking fares into SNA. I was shocked to say the least. It was going to cost 600-1000 and up roundtrip flying into SNA. I then checked LAX cause that's just way to overpriced. I found fares starting at 299 round trip late jan. MUCH better rate. I am hoping I can just book to LAX, and have Disneyland express take me to my hotel since I only am doing Disneyland. SNA while closer was MUCH more in price by far. Not sure why that is heck we paid about that much to go on our honeymoon, and first trip for 2 people roundtrip to orlando for what they are asking for to SNA.

P.S. I checked for flights on sunday, and mid week. I avoid weekends like sat and fri prices are higher then, but still does NOT justify the rates I was getting for SNA.

It really depends on where you are flying from. I see you are coming from FL, I would guess that you are going to have the best luck with LAX. But, be sure to factor in the additional time and expense to get you from the airport to the resort area. Sometimes that eats up any savings. Other times, you will end up flying into LAX, then changing planes and flying to SNA. When that happens you are better off to just drive from LAX.

Personally, we like to fly into Long Beach and find it the most affordable. But, we are coming from Seattle, so LGB is a direct flight for us. Its very close to DL (only a mile or two more then SNA).

I find travelocity.com is a good place to find fares. YOu can put in an airport and it will give you price for multiple airlines. If there is a cheaper airport combo it will often tell you that at the top of the screen. You have to be careful though, sometimes it will put you driving a couple hours at each end to save $50.

I think last minute, some of the more local airports may be cheaper (to fill spots). I got a flight two days before heading out once and went to John Wayne for 217 round trip from MN. However, typically when I'm looking, the local airports are significantly more expensive and require connecting flights for us. LAX or even Vegas are our best options. (Vegas both for the cost of the flight and the cost of the rental vehicle.)
I have found, though, if you're flying w/in CA or from AZ or surrounding areas, often the local airports are cheaper. Sometimes car rental can be more expensive, sometimes you can get good deals.

I fly into Long beach because Jet Blue goes there. It is not too far and the cab fare wasn't bad either. :)

I don't think you can pinpoint excatly which airport will be cheaper since it all depends on what airline, date, where you're flying from.

There isn't any 'given' cheaper airport.

For our upcoming trip we are actually flying into Las Vegas to visit the grandparent's first and then driving to Anaheim. We are flying out of SNA because is was cheaper then LAX or ONT.

We always fly into Long beach from seattle its the cheapest and easiest as there is no one ever there. Its nice. You just have to check from your destination which is cheaper I guess. Im not much help am I?

I've had fun looking at kayak.com, which allows you to look at, almost simultaneously, fares for different airports. It's really cool. And if you're logged in, it saves your past searches. :)

That's where I found out about SNA to begin with, actually! And for the dates we're traveling, every time I've checked, it has been the lowest for the flights we will need. But it doesn't show Southwest, and SW is our airline of choice, so when it comes time to book we'll be looking again to make sure it's still the best for us!

Anyway, for comparison, I like kayak.com, is what I'm trying to say. :upsidedow

For us going to LAX was not only cheaper but also the only direct flight we could get from DC.

we also fly into long beach. its a short trip to dl, and its perfect cuz we have a 2 year old and the airport is not hectic, which makes it easier on the retutn trip through security.

One other factor I consider is how many stops are required, if there is a plane change, and how long it takes to get there. I hate plane changes not only because of the wait but because of the chance for lost luggage. I'll pay extra for a direct flight (within reason) or one that doesn't require a change of plane.
