Cheap track shoes for kids?

My daughter is running summer track (sprints). She needs some good track shoes but at Sports Authority they were 80 dollars. She has cheaper shoes for school, but they are too heavy for track. Anyone know of quality track shoes that won't break the bank? We don't care about the "cool" shoes, just want something good for the sport.

I often get my kids' sports shoes at 6pm.com. They always have good deals and the shipping is free. If she wears adult sizes, you could also try tj maxx. That is where I got my last pair of trainers.

I'm not sure if these are considered "track" shoes, but I bought my DD Saucony running shoes from Famous Footwear for $40. She is in a women's size 8. They also had Brooks, Nike, etc.

If you are looking for a specialty track shoe, I would try froogle (google shopping) which will compare prices for you if you know what type of shoe she needs.

ITA. This is NOT the place to find a bargain. Get a good pair of shoes and get fitted for them. Expect to spend $100. It will pay dividends when you aren't paying for sports medicine!

You need to go into a running store and get her fitted. Don't let her run sprints or any other intense activity with poorly fit shoes. You want to lessen the chance of injury.

Running shoes and shoes in general are not the place to save money. Like others have said, you can be facing problems down the line due to improper fit and support. Before I got fitted not only was I in the wrong type of shoe, I was in the wrong size for running. I had no idea I needed to up a size and a half due to how much feet can swell. $80 is actually not to expensive for running shoes.

Both of my girls (7th grade and 10th grade) run cross country and track. I usually spend about 100.00 for the training shoes and 40.00 - 60.00 for a pair of spikes. Like someone else said, this is not an area to skimp. Injuries happen. I was told at our running store that you may find the same shoes in Khols or some place like that, but the manufacturer will make some sort of change, like strip the shoe of padding. I now buy my shoes for even walking at Disney at the running store and my feet and legs thank me every day.

Thanks for the reminder. As soon as school is out, captains practices start for HS soccer, and ds15 will be running every day. Time to head up to Fleet Feet for a new pair of running shoes. I don't care what he wears during the year, but if he is running, I make sure to get a good fitting. I spent $100 last year.
