Could someone recommend "cheaper" table service restaurants. We aren't doing the dining plan this time, so it matters!

I know I could look it up on one of the websites, but I thought if anyone already knew, that would work too!

By "cheaper" I mean NOT Boma's, Ohana's etc... but in price ranges under that.

Thanks so much!

Mary Anne

Have your big meal at lunch. Prices are less and you can beat the midday heat. What kind of price per person are you looking for? Because once you add up entree, drink and maybe dessert, places like Boma and 'Ohana don't seem so expensive.

At Epcot, I suggest doing counter service for lunch and dinner. There are lots of great choices there.

I find the affordable places are:

Trails End
50s Prime Time
The Plaza
Beaches and Cream
Lunch at most of the resort restraurants and alot of TS locations throughout. By choosing lunch you still get a taste of the restruarant. Check out the menus and you may be pleasantly surprised by the price different between lunch and dinner.

Other than Trails End, we avoid most buffets as we find a regular TS cheaper and the food is often better. JMHO.

Sci Fi dine-in can be done very reasonable for lunch. And it's fun...the kids loved it and even grumpy (DH) thought the burger was great.

I agree, Sci-Fi is a little more reasonable. Also, The Plaza Restaurant at MK isn't too expensive and their burgers are great! (imo)

If you don't want a huge meal, you could go to Le Cellier & just get the Cheddar Cheese Soup (yum) and a dessert. They bring great bread to fill up on as well, and then maybe have your big meal later. Lunch meals will be cheaper :thumbsup2

You can hit a sort of double jackpot of cheap dining by going to the 50s Prime Time Cafe and splitting the fried chicken dinner - it's only $14.99 at lunch or dinner, and it's plenty of food for two people.

Yes, if the two people sharing are lite eaters. I always have in the past had a full piece of chicken, left. But, no way would that be enough food to share with my hubby. He can eat his whole plate :lmao:

The Plaza in Magic Kingdom (lunch or dinner) and Mama Melrose for lunch. We enjoyed both of them on our most recent trip.

Planet Hollywood and Rainforest Cafe are more reasonable, too, though nothing beats Trails End for value!

I also agree that lunch at most table service restaurants is the best option if you want to try to save money. Similar menu but lower prices!

Trails End is the best TS value on Disney property.

1)Trails End for breakfast or dinner (tons of good food for cheap)... Just take the boat from MK
2)Whispering Canyon for breakfast or lunch...again you can to the boat from MK
3)Beaches and Cream for lunch or dinner (no ADR)... Short walk from Epcot or boat (longer walk) from DHS
4)Sci-Fi for lunch
5)Rainforest Cafe for lunch (must call them direct to make reservation)

Can you make ADRs at Trail's End?

Is bus service available to TE for an early breakfast? We would be coming from POR

Thanks!

Jean

Yes, you can make ADR for breakfast....

No, there is not direct bus service to the Fort from your resort... You would have to take the bus to MK and then take the boat to Fort... Figure on almost an hour in travel depending on how you hit the bus and boat... The boat ride itself is only about 15 minutes but you may have to wait a bit for the boat to come to the launch at the MK... The launch is right next to the monorail station.

Thank you! :goodvibes

This is what I thought. Was hoping that we wouldn't have to depend on the opening times for MK (or other park).
Maybe in November when we have a car. Now I am really looking forward to trying Trail's End! :cheer2:

Does the Trails End have a lunch buffet? I was thinking that this might be a great place to take the DGDs when we are at the Magic Kingdom. Something different. I have made ADRs for the rest of the meals.

Yes, there is a lunch 11:30-2:00 lunch... The lunch buffet is much smaller than the dinner.... But at $12.99 per adult and $8.99 per child, it is still a deal!
