We'll be staying near BWI before our flight and were wondering if there is anything cheap to do in the afternoon. Hotel pool is outdoor (brrr) so that won't work. I really don't know Baltimore, and I checked out the acquarium and zoo and they're a bit much.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks! :wave2:

How old are your kids? There is a lot to do. Walk around the harbor, see the USS Constellation (I think thats the ship) and take the tour (I loved it), see the submarine if you are interested too. Go out on the paddle boats, there is also a fort there (it was closed when I was there in October) that you can take a boat to. I've never been there but heard it was nice. I will keep thinking-

Let me know if you need anything else (info on BWI...) I fly in/out of the airport monthly.

Is a great place to hang out around BWI and it's only a stones throw away. Very easy to find.

Zagat Survey's U.S. Family Travel Guide and Parenting Magazine ranks Arundel Mills as one of the top U.S. family sites to visit!

My DH and I were just there on Saturday for a day trip and we also went there when we flew out of BWI last October.

Here's a link so you can check it out but I'll warn you, the website DOES NOT do the place justice.

Arundel Mills Mall

The place is huge so you should be there for awhile and it has all these different themes throughout. One section you walk through is like your inside a giant pinball machine, one section is like walking down a bowling alley lane, one section is set up like a meadow with huge fireflys and dragonflys in crazy colors like pink and turquoise and they pipe in sounds from a meadow, one section is like walking through a park and they have telephone wires strung across with little birds on the line. It's really alot of fun (for a mall). It has a huge Muvico Egyptian 24 Theaters. The outside is designed to look just like Egypt. They even have a Medieval Times there, like in Orlando, but that is definately NOT free or cheap. We've never done it before.

They also have a Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World there that is huge. We are not an outdoorsy type family but we always have alot of fun here and it's a nice place to pass the time. They have a huge aquarium where you can sit and watch the fish. They have a shooting arcade and the theming is just great.

Oh, and there are stores here too. :teeth: Believe it or not we didn't buy a thing when we were there Saturday. It was just a fun themed place to hang out.

And if you get there and find you've forgotten something. There is a WalMart and Costco's and several other stores right outside the mall on the mall property.

Hope this helps, have a great time whatever you choose.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have 2 boys, ages 3 and 7. Seeing the USS Constellation could be fun, and I bet we'd enjoy the mall, too. Sounds really neat. I guess a lot will depend on the weather, too. We are soooo excited - I can hardly sleep - drive to BWI on Sunday! :wave2:

We went to the Inner Harbor once and did the DUCK tour. My kids loved it! (so did I)

is also fun for the kids. Especially if you have boys! It is pretty inexpensive. There is lots for the kids to look at. :flower:

If you are a shopper, I would recommend Arundel Mills as well. My kids just love going there and walking around.

A little more pricey, but well worth it, is Port Discovery. It is a kid powered museum. My kids just love this place!

You could also check out an Orioles game. The cheap seats are only a few dollers!

Have fun, and enjoy your day in Baltimore! :wave2:

Arundel Mills Mall, Baltimore's Inner Harbor

I get discount tix to the Aquarium for $16 but that's probably only $2 cheaper isn't it?

If you have time you can go to DC and visit the zoo there - it's free. Believe it's open until 5 or so.
