I'm looking for some cheap clear plastic storage containers (with lids) to get a handle on the kids' overwhelming amount of toys! It just isn't fun to even play right now because everything is thrown into Rubbermaids!

Any ideas on where to get some decent priced ones? I'm looking for different sizes so everything gets its own bin with a label so that the kids can help with clean up

Why not just buy the clear Rubbermaid or Sterilite totes instead of the colored ones?
They come in different shapes and sizes.
We always used them and they worked perfectly.

That is what we are looking for.... But where do people seem to find them the cheapest??? Target, Home Depot, ikea???

I always get them at WMart. Ours usually has a pretty good selection of both brands.
I used to sometimes go to KMart when they had them on sale for a bit less, but our KMarts have all gone belly-up!

IKEA is where I've found most of my favorite storage containers for toys. They have quite a few inexpensive choices.

These are great and come in blue, green, pink, and white, and even the colors are pretty see through. The lid is sold separately: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80098516/

We use these for smaller items: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80098583/

I loved these for the first few weeks but they have all cracked due to being pulled off the shelves and being leaned on while getting toys out. I wish now I had spent more money and gotten thicker bins.

Oh, wow! That stinks. We've never had a problem with them, but my son is a little older and probably more careful than most kids.

The IKEA ones are very small, pricier, and not as good quality compared to Rubbermaid or even Sterlite. You can find very nice ones, different sizes, at Target. They just had a big sale, not sure about the prices now. Also Walmart has them.

Walmart will have the Sterilite bins for the cheapest price probably. Target would likely be the next cheapest.

With the new year, costco has all their organizational stuff out. Not a huge selection of course, but there are a few options that I thought looked good. Best part is if there are any problems down the road, you can return them with costco's awesome return policy. Other than that-I too recommend rubbermaid. Years ago our basement flooded many feet. Sterlite broke up and the contents were ruined. Rubbermaid roughnecks stayed intact. Never again will I buy sterlite.

We used clear plastic shoe boxes when DD was younger with pictures on the outside. ie: Barbies, pets, etc. She loved finding pictures to use on the boxes and she actually liked organizing all the little toys. We then stored them on her bookcase. I use them in our bathroom closet as well. Kroger has them on sale this week 10 for $10.00!

I worked at Walgreens in college and we sold sterilite. So much of it was already broken when in came in on the truck that I would never buy it.

I actually just found some decent plastic shelves at Walmart for $14.97 and then hit target and bought a bunch of different sized clear sterlite containers as they were having a sale. It still cost a pretty penny, but I really needed to get the kids toys organized so I bit the bullet and did it. My DD9 also has tons of magazines and random papers she just can't get rid of so I bought some magazine holders to go on her shelf as well.

We went to ikea tonight to check out some of their bins. I like the ones with the wheels and lid! I think we will end up with a couple of those. Has anyone ever seen any clear/see-through bins for those cube storage systems (from Target/Walmart???)

I got these at Walmart (I hope I don't get punished for posting a link to a website, don't know how else to explain it)

They have this size and smaller ones. They stack on top of each other and the kids can get their toys out without having to unstack things or have shelves. I know they don't necessarily look like they will work but the do!! I was worried about them but we are loving them. Several people have been in and seen them and have commented on how great of a storage area it is and wanted to know where I got the bins so I am guessing they're kind of new. I do like the Ikea storage things too but we don't have Ikea in our area so I had to find something else!
