Cheap place to meet group

This is my first post so please be patient. I am staying at Contemporary in Oct. A bunch of people I have met on other boards are coming to FLA at the same time so we can meet in person. Most are not staying at Disney and say they cannot afford to meet at a park. Can people come visit us at our hotel without paying to get in? I am not renting a car so I have no way to get to them and they say they can't afford to meet at IOA as I suggested. HELP!

If they can't afford to meet at a park maybe suggest a restaurant that is close to your hotel or in the hotel to meet. I really don't think that they would have a problem with you meeting up for a little while in the hotel lobby or one of the bar/restuarants there.

I was just looking in my Birnbaum's WDW book and it shows that there are 4 lounges/bars/coffee places right at the hotel. How about Downtown Disney? I know that they have tables outdoors along the water. They wouldn't be charged for parking and then they wouldn't feel like they needed to buy anything (drinks, food. etc.) if they didn't want to.

Yes, I met some people at Wolfgang Pucks a few years ago. You can use a bus to get there and sit outside so those who chose to eat and drink can and those who don't can just sit. Be careful, though, we got mixed up because there are two Wolfgang Pucks at Downtown Disney.

Why not meet at the Outer Rim Lounge. That way you can either have a drink, or just enjoy the view of Bay Lake!

Thank you cocacolamom, Kay1, and eeyore0062. I have not been to Disney World for 14 years so most of the places you mentioned are new to me. Can I get a bus from IOA to Downtown Disney? Is that where you are saying there are 2 Wolfgang Pucks? Would we need to make a reservation for an outside table for a group? Where is the Outer Rim Lounge? My folks go to Disney all the time and we are going as their guests so I don't have a lot of free time to meet these other people. My parents are going golfing the day I take my kids to IOA so that would be the best day for me to meet my on-line friends. Especially since most of my days are planned in one of the parks and they can't afford to get in. BTW, we will be there 10/18 to 10/27. I think that is the same as you eeyore0062! Thanks for any further clarification. Oh and DIS has corrected my screen name to wickidwitch., but I am the same person.
