Cheap pay as you go US mobiles - where to buy

now the boys are older 19 & 16 they want to go off and do things with out the oldies with them, but as myself and our eldest have medical issues we want to be contactable if needed so thought we would get a couple of cheap (disposable) mobile phones, were thinking of getting them at Walmart but is this the best place, have any othedr disers done this and can provide any info. Thank you

We bought some in best buy a couple years ago - they did all the activation in store so when we walked out they were already working

I think thy were $15 with $10 credit on them.
