I just booked NorthWest in December for 117.00 a person round trip (136 with all the taxes). This is departing from Michigan. I understand that NW is going through some problems, but my mom is a TA and said that by Dec. everything will work out even if they do go on strike. You may want to check it out.

We HAVE to fly NW because they service our small town in MN and also DS flies NW out of Lansing when he comes home. Right now I am looking at $383 pp out of MN to MCO for Jan 2. Somebody just shoot me. OUr airfare is going to more pricy than our lodging in Jan.

Whree are you departing from in MI? You got an awesome rate.

We are forced to fly NW because they are the only airline that flies out of North Dakota to the east. For our trip in March, we are looking at $471 if we return on a Friday and $574 if we return the next day, Saturday. It's insane!! And of course, there is no hope to use our frequent flier miles during our trip. Right now I'm planning to wait until the last minute and see if any FF seats open up for us. But, I may end up paying more because of waiting. We'll see.

Cameo, can you fly out of MSP? Or is it too far a drive?

I am departing from Detroit Metro airport. Only NW or Spirit are nonstop to Orlando.

Wow, that is great! I have been trying find a decent rate for our Presidents' Week trip, and the flight we want is currently over $350 on NW! Congrats on finding such a good rate!

It is an 8-hour drive to MSP from Mandan, where we live. That would be an extra two days of travel (down and back), which would be awful, especially since we have small kids. We just got an announcement that NW is cutting seats into North Dakota, creplacing the DC-9s with smaller, regional jets - which seems odd since all the flights we take back and forth are always full. We figute the day may come when we will be forced to drive to MSP to fly out.
