My lady and I have decided to go to Disneyville for an impulse trip at the end of November. As it's an unplanned trip, we need to do it on a fairly tight budget and want to find a hotel for up to $50 a night preferably including taxes, but I know that might be a stretch.

Location wise, we'd prefer to be somewhere along the US 192 close to Disney, on the Western section where you find Splendid China, or close to LBV if possible. We're also open to something up near Universal as that is the only park we plan on visiting this time.

As for the accomodation, as long as it clean, comfortable and has a decent sized pool, we're open to just about anything.

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated ! Thanks.

Try the La Quinta Inn Lakeside - we stayed here a few years ago when it was owned by Sheraton and it was pretty decent. It's directly across the road from Splendid China and convenient for most things. I seem to remember you even get a fridge in the room as part of the basic price - last time I looked this was $45-50 per night so fairly good value.

I got La Quinta Inn Lakeside by booking through http://www.hotwire.com for $35 a night.

If you're flexible on hotels and just two of you, hotwire does offer some great bargains, but you don't know the actual hotel until after you commit to the booking. You can get approximate location and hotel facilities, just not the hotel name until you commit. I put in the end of November and there are 3 * hotels for $46 a night, 2* for $30 ( on I drive) . Taxes would add about $7.50 a night or $5 per night respectively.

We've booked the Comfort Inn LBV for $39 for 15 nights over Xmas. All rooms have a Fridge and a Microwave.

Might be worth checking out.

Check out Expedia for the cheapest hotels on offer and then try direct through the hotel websites - who usually guarantee the lowest rates !

As Vernon stated Hotwire have loads of rates below $50 - check out BetterBidding for a list of the hotels and recent winning bids !

Thanks guys...

2 Point,

Where did you get that rate on the Comfort Inn LBV ? I'd be interested in that location for sure, especially since we've now decided to start our tip in Miami nd then come to Orlando for some Chrimbo shopping for the last 4, 5 days. Being that close to all the shops will be nice bonus.

Any other suggestions would still be appreciated folks, thanks.

Thanks 2 Point...

I haven't managed to find that $39 rate but have found it at $56, still a decent discount to the usual rate.

Any more suggestions people ?

another recomendation for hotwire..dont worry about the fact you cant see your accomodation till youve paid..when we did ours they put us in the Holiday Inn Downtown Disney over Xmas to New Year for $300...Unfortunately the Holiday Inn then decided to close but Hotwire offered better accomodation or a refund..When I complained it was imperative we had to have a DD location as we had made PS arrangements they refunded us and split the differance to move us into the DD Hilton.

we are just back from a spur of the moment trip we stayed in the All Star sports we just phoned up and asked for any discount rooms and took what they offered we are AP holders so we got the AP discount but at the moment they have room only rates aswell
and rember if you stay on site you do not pay for car parking which is another 8-9 dollars

Well, I decided in the end to try the Priceline.com thing, and try to get a discounted 3* hotel in the LBV area.

I was a bit nervous about it since you can't pick a specific hotel, but since we only needed a place for 5 nights rather than the full 14, I decided it was worth the risk of not getting a hotel we would normally choose, especially since there seem to be some big discounts available.

After consulting Biddingfortravel.com, a forum site designed to help people wanting to bid on Priceline, I supplied information they need regarding preferred location, dates, maximum bid you wish to place and type of hotel (* rating). I was hoping to get one of 3 hotels; the Sheraton Safari, Best Western Resort LBV or the Grosvenor Resort. The moderators on the forum advised me to start bidding at $32 - this bid was rejected. I upped the bid to $34, then $36, and finally to $39.

Luckily, at this price I had my bid accepted for the Best Western Resort LBV, well pleased to get one of our 3 preferences. Even better, the lowest price I was able to get on the hotel's own website was $99 !! We save $60 per night !! Amazing !! :hyper:

I'm now looking at trying to get our Miami hotel and car hire thru Priceline too.

I'd recommend anyone who is flexible on their hotel to give Priceline a try. If you do want to check it out, go to Biddingfortravel.com for loads of useful advice and bidding assistance. It's well worth a few hours research !!
