DH and I were in Orlando last weekend for a continuing education course on Sunday--we thought that was a good excuse to spend Saturday at Epcot and spend one night in Orlando!
We stayed at La Quinta Inn Lakeside for $50.00, including tax. We chose it because it generally gets good reviews on the DIS boards for an inexpensive hotel. We couldn't find a good rate on the internet, so DH called the hotel directly and got this rate. It's a large hotel with about 15 buildings. The front desk clerk told us all the rooms have been remodeled except for about half of one building, so make sure you ask for a remodeled room when you check in.
It was very clean, had a mini-refrigerator, and a nice big safe (big enough for a laptop, whichi is unusual). There was a free continental breakfast the next morning--bagels, cereal, coffee, tea, orange juice, milk, maybe a few other things, plus they have a restaurant if you prefer a full breakfast.
Our room faced a very nicely landscaped interior couryard with a pond, fountain, gazebo, etc. There are at least 2 pools but we didn't go look at them.
Good luck in your search for a hotel--and make sure you write a review for the DISboards!
