Needing recommendations for a cheap hotel/motel that's not a dump that's an easy drive to Disney. Cheap as in less than $50 a night. I'm a budget traveler and we're very non-picky. Our only requirements:

--Clean room
--Easy drive to Disney
--Safe area

Not worried about any amenities, etc.

Let me know your picks. Thank you!

When are you going? Your best bet is to go in October, mid-late January, or most of February (not President's week)... maybe March. Even then.... under $50 and not a dump? I don't know if that's possible in the off-season but I can't imagine that it's even remotely possible during the busy season.

I am going to comment here because we are going late January and are thinking of staying outside of Disney for the first time. I would like to see if anyone has any advice. I doubt less than $50 will get you a clean room but I'd like to know.

Check out RedRoof.com. There are a few possible RR properties that are decent in the area, i.e. Convention Center, Kissimmee and Florida Mall. Read their TripAdvisor reviews and decide.

Another possibility, if you are a AAA member, is to book a Disney value room and use your AAA membership to get a good 15% off of the room. It should get you a room for about $75-80, you would be on Disney property and could utilize the Disney transportation, and you will not have to pay for parking at the parks.

The $50 rooms are going to be your red roof inns, rodeway inns, days inn, etc. If you've ever stayed at one of these places, you can determine for yourself whether they are a dump.

This is our standard place to stay. Clean and decent breakfast. Ask for a courtyard room for a better view. :) nice and cozy.

It may also be worthwhile to try Priceline (name your own price bidding) to get near your price in a nice area/at a nicer hotel. There's a Sticky thread at the top of the Orlando Hotels and Attractions page that has an ongoing discussion with various winning bids listed.

Great advice. Only the one in Celebration or another Baymont ? thanks

Baymonts as a whole are a good value but to me it depends on location, which then can affect the quality. As far as 192 lodging, we prefer W of I-4 on the WDW side.

The celebration hotel is at the ak front door. Just at the end of sherberth. :). That was why we started staying there to begin with.

Lol, not marketing for them. I just love the back door entrance. We stayed at silverlake, akv,and baymont this year. Within 5 minutes if one another, a quick drive to target, etc. I don't think we will ever move back to the other side.

From the Black Lake Road Baymont that's in Kissimmee but is listed as Celebration, it's a quick left onto Black Lake Road and then left onto Sherberth Road for maybe a mile and a quarter to Oscelo Parkway (turn left to AK Lodge - half a mile to the entrance; or turn right to Animal Kingdom (also about a half mile to the left turn into AK)) and the other Disney Parks via World Drive.

No, it's not in Kissimmee. Kissimmee city limits are not even all the way to I-4 even though some use that mailing address. I don't want you to confuse this Baymont with the one that is actually in Kissimmee. The ones folks are talking about close to AK and WDW is the Baymont Celebration.

Celebration is literally across the street from the hotel. But it one of those strange bits of land that looks to fall into category of unincorporated (no city) Osceola County. I believe for tourism purposes it is considered part of the Kissimmee tourism information.

I posted this on another thread but it is pertinent. I used hotwire to book Caribe Royale. It was one of the "secret deals" but I was able to easily deduce that it was the Caribe because it said "hurry the last person that booked this deal got the Caribe Royal". anyay I got it for $80 a night and there are no extra parking or resort fees!

We always stay at Clarion Inn Lake Buena Vista. It's always clean and a safe area. It's located in palm parkway right outside of DTD. I've gotten a room as cheap as $56 with tax and resort fees on bookit.com. Avoid places in Kissimmee on hwy 192.

We've liked the Clarion over on Palm Pky.
Stayed there quite a few times in years past, but haven't been there since they changed from the Comfort Inn to Clarion (same chain), but it was always inexpensive, clean, within 'frogger' distance of a Dunkin's :rotfl: , and an easy drive in via DtD - but watch the left turn from Palm onto 535 - it gets really busy in the morning.

So ? The Baymont on Black Lake Rd isn't a dump ? I've though about booking there for April - they have a really nice AARP discount - but most of the Trip Advisor reviews make me want to run away screaming
