So I was planning a trip to Disney in December with my Boyfriend and he made me wait too long to book the trip so we unfortunately could not get a value resort with or with out my annual pass discount. (yes I have an annual pass and I have to say off property, sad I know) I am a college student so i don't have a ton of money to spend on the hotel, I would have very much preferred staying on property but it's not going to happen. So I was wondering if anyone knew a nice hotel that was very close to the Disney property (hopefully near the downtown Disney area) that was not too much money.

Also my mom told me about a place in Ocala, FL that if you go to (i think its the welcome center) they can give you a discount on hotels. Does anyone know anything about this?

Thank you sooo much!

We will be staying at DTD at the Regal Sun when we go in December -- all of the hotels at DTD are listed under downtowndisneyhotels.com -- some more affordable than others

I think the welcome center closed years ago.

Have you looked into Priceline?
There are 2 message boards to get educated with: www.biddingfortravel.com and www.betterbidding.com. You could probably get a 2.5-3 star hotel under $50 night(depending on your dates).

I am in the same situation, wanting to go for a couple of nights in Dec and finding the values are booked!

We made a reservation with the Holiday Inn at Downtown Disney for our November trip. They had an introductory rate of $59 for a two Queen bed room that is beautiful. We did get an email earlier this week that their opening is delayed, so they switched us to the Downtown Hilton for the same rate. We are only there one night until we check into our resort, so it doesn't matter. Try calling them and see if the introductory rate will be available for December. Good luck!

Well, I think staying in the hotel is the best option. It may be a costly one but then safety is the primary concern and sometimes it is better to shell out some extra money then you actually wish to.

Keep an eye on Travelzoo.com. There are a lot of great deals on there.

We were down couple of weeks ago and got one night at Comfort Inn on Palm Parkway for $29/night.
It later went to $26/night.
Nothing fancy, but clean and there is a mini-fridge and microwave in the room.

We always ask for a room on the parking side, away from the highway. Reviews say the I-4 side can be noisy from traffic.

When we were there they were remodeling and gutting rooms, putting in new furniture and beds.

Ask for a remodeled room if you go!

We also stayed a couple nights (end of trip) at Ramada Gateway on 192 (Irlo Bronson Hwy). We got a room in the tower (reviews say only stay in tower rooms).
We could see the fireworks at two parks at once from our room. Rooms were big and beds were comfy. We are considering stying there from now on rather than on property because of the space. Everything else was comparable to the Values on property.
Very close to the main entranceto MK.
We really liked this hotel a lot. They have specials as well through the different sites like travelzoo, priceline, expedia, etc.

Thanks everyone! we booked our hotels the other day. We are staying at the Royal Plaza the first two nights and then switching over to Music on property for the last two nights. My mom is paying for the hotel for my Christmas present and she really wanted my boyfriend to stay on property so since it's her money we decided to do both so that we could go for the dates we wanted but still get some Disney hotel experience.

But thanks for all of your help!

You can check out OLD town Suites in Kissimmee.

That is where we stay if we are on a budget.

they are three miles from the maingate and are reasonable.

I am a DVC Member, but I go to Florida 2-3 times a year and I need to stay off property sometimes.

I always prefer to stay on Disney property when available just because of the overall general cleanliness and of course you get to go in early or stay late at the parks and get free parking .
