Cheap gifts for co-workers/friends?

We usually get coffee mugs, key chains, shot glasses and little trinkets at the Disney Outlet stores at Belz Outlet Mall. They are usually about $3-$5 each. Sometimes they even have t-shirts for that price too!

I work at IBM where you need to wear a badge all the time. I bring home water straps for my co-workers that you can buy at all the parks. They work well for hanging your badge, pens and keys around your neck. They only cost around $3.99 (??). Beth

refrigerator magnets.. can't get much cheaper than that.... hee hee

I usually bring home refrigerator magnets and keychains. You can find both with the persons name on it. My friends always seem to like the ones with their names on it.

I bought some really cute fat pens w/ characters on them in a pack for under $10. I think there were 6 pens per pack.

If you are buying for lots of co-workers and friends, then I'd go with the key chains and magnets or even pens. You can bring them home a little easier than a bunch of mugs. The key chains and magnets are always a favorite of mine.

How about a couple of nice pressed pennies? They are kind of neat and a curiosity if people have never seen them before.

These are really great ideas. I might use some for my upcoming trip. Thankspirate:

My DH has lots and lots of coworkers he had to buy for. We got a package of WDW pens and a 5 pack of Mickey suckers. We took one pen and one sucker and wrapped them together with curling ribbon and that's what he gave to all. Cheap and easy.

Definately agree about pens as souvenirs.
Great value when you buy a pack of 6 or more and give your friends one pen each. It breaks down to about $1/pen for an authentic Dis souvenir!
They are available at almost all the Park gift shops.
Hey--everyone can use a pen!

Japan @ the world showcase has a lot of neat and unique candies in their gift shop that are reasonably priced.
I always have to stock up on Botan Rice Candy for my friends!
(only about $0.75/box)

Spent more for us!!

I had to purchase several small gifts and had no problem in World Showcase - chocolate bars from Germany, chocolate treats from Japan, Chopsticks from Japan, change purse from Morocco, trinket box from Mexico. Hey I would have bought more but didn't have the room.

Disney T-shirts , apparel & novelty hats are usually the most pricey items.

Avoid buying from the souvenier stands that are scattered throughout the parks. They are most expensive.
The kids see them and immediately want the minnie mouse hat/ears, mickey hat/ears, etc.
They are tempting for those impulse sales!
Curb the kids from those spots if possible.
They have some adorable souvenirs, but some of them just aren't practical after the trip is over (in my experience).

For example, on one of my last trips, my cousin just HAD TO HAVE the sorcerer mickey hat/ears from one of the souven. stands. (IT was around $20+?)
She wore it for a couple of the days of the trip and after arriving back home it was chunked in the closet and I haven't seen it since.

If I really think a novelty hat is cool (ex: princess hat/mickey or minnie ears/silly wigs) we will try it on and take a picture wearing it in the store. The staff doesn't mind you doing this.
And most of the time the most fun part about those hats is trying them on and acting silly. Get a picture and it will last forever--! :)

I always opt to buy items that I know I will use after the trip is over as opposed to something that will just sit around a collect dust (and not the good pixie dust kind!).:)

If you have some time to shop around at Downtown Disney or some of the larger stores at the parks you can find some great items at reasonable prices if you hunt around. Go past the big store displays and search the sales racks.

Also, I like to visit the Rainforest Cafe gift shop at AK.
They always have tshirts on sales at really awesome prices.
They aren't 'Disney' but they are fun items to have!

As mentioned above, there are LOTS of cool little trinkets at Epcot's World Showcase shops. You can pick up neat and unusual items for as little as a $1 or $2 in these shops.

I agree with the pressed penny idea... 51 cents a gift!! Can't beat that!!
