I´m trying to plan a trip to DL (LA) and San Fransisco for my family during spring break. Since we are flying in from Iceland the flight tickets are a HUGE post in the budget. If I fly to LA with Icelandair (the only airline in Iceland), the airfare will be around $5000!!!

However, it might be cheaper if I fly to Minneapolis or Boston and from there with a domestic airline. Does anyone have any good ideas? It will be me, DH, DS 11, DD 9, DD 4 and DD 1.

Thanks
Freyja

No I don't but have you checked www.flyertalk.com ? That is a good place to research such a question! Good luck to you!

I would look into flying to someplace and then to your final destination Boston would probably be better then MSP (more airlines) What about NY?

Give yourself LOTS and LOTS of time. You have to go thru customs etc. SO don't plan to land and then leave again an hour later. I did this in London one time. Landed and did not leave again for 8 hours! Since it's two tickets you need that time in case your first flight is delayed.

Are there any "charter" deals from Iceland?

I know the RT air from Newark, NJ (Liberty International)(EWR) to California is $300 on Continental Airlines. NJ is Continental's hub, so you may want to consider flying into JFK(NY) or NJ then going on to CA!
