Oh my gosh! I can't believe it! I saw a post on here about cheap flights on Delta and I jumped over to check it out since we're still looking for flights for our Jan trip (Southwest was more than I was willing to pay so I decided to wait)

So I went over to the Delta site, clicked on "deals" at the bottom of the page and searched for our dates from that page....

I just got 2 round trip tickets from STL to MCO for $240 total!! Not EACH...TOTAL!!! That's a little less than it was going to be on Southwest for just 1 RT ticket!! I'm SOOOOOO excited!!! I couldn't believe it. I was shaking as I put in all the information. Our plane tickets are HALF PRICE!! How did that happen???? HOW?????

I had to tell someone and I can't post it on facebook cause I don't want to deal with the "but you just WENT to Disney World" comments. So I'm telling you!! I hope others can get this great deal!!!

Wow! That's awesome for you! I guess maybe the low prices are only for certain dates or out of certain airports. :confused3 I checked some dates in December and January because I'm hoping to sneak in a trip around then and it came to $1200 for me and my 2 kids :sad1: No savings for me

I just checked for our flights in Oct. and the deal is pretty good. $316 RT from ONT to MCO. That's not bad. But with the 2 free bags on SW I can go for $331 RT. So I'll be sticking with SW (plus I have a credit to use on SW anyway)

Thanks for the post and congrats on your pricing.:goodvibes

ADDED-Yikes, I just looked at the Delta deal again and it inc. a over a 3 hr. layover in LAX before heading to SLC with a 4 hour layover and then home to ONT (which is about an hour and half from LAX-by car). Total flight time over 16 hours! If I was taking this deal I would just fly direct from MCO to LAX and have someone pick us up at LAX. Would save about 11 hours flying time.

YIKES is right!!! That's crazy! We just have 1 hour-ish layover each way...Southwest was direct but the time is close enough to make the price worth it. Yours would NOT be! That's insane!

I know I was in shock when I first saw it.:scared1: I wish SW flew direct for us. Actually, there are no direct flights from ONT (Ontario, CA) to MCO. Have to drive to LAX for those and I really love using ONT. You can literally park right in front of the terminal. Only a few minutes until you are inside and on your way.

Hi Dizneydaz! :wave2: Met you at the Pop Swap thread. So is this a good price to pay? We were looking to book Southwest because they have flights to MCO out of many of the Southern California airports. We're closest to Burbank, but have no problem going to LAX or further out.

Thanks for info. It's good if you're sure about your travel dates. Changing will cost $. Also don't like to pay to have my bags fly. Since I'm not penalized if I need to switch and my bags fly free I'm sticking with Southwest which is also more convenient for me to get too.

 LaLa

I figure anything around $300 RT is good from CA. Now that I booked our trip with different dates due to new free DDP announcement I need to change my plane tix. So glad SW doesn't charge to make changes. ;) Hope I can find flights that will be around the $250/RT price (which I already have for Sept trip I need to cancel)

Actually, when I look back over what we have been paying over the last 10 years or so, plane tix are still a pretty good deal. The cheapest I ever paid was $200/RT (plus fees) on Sky (Delta) direct flight from LAX. Most paid has been around $370.

We're flying from Detroit to Ft. Lauderdale in October for a cruise.

I got two round trip, nonstop (both ways) on Delta for $440 add $50 for one bag round trip and the total is $490.

Southwest at it's cheapest (with flight times that were really early) had layovers of 1 & 2 hours for $760.

We've started pricing flights for a cruise in late January and we're finding the same issue. Southwest is actually DOUBLE what Delta is offering. Oh and we want to fly into Miami in January and Southwest only offers Ft. Lauderdale so we'd have to add transportation from there to Miami.

No brainer for us. :confused3

You're flying out of the same airport as me :-) I checked and the cheapest ($350 RT had 1 stop but didn't arrive at MCO until 10 pm!) The other cheapest ones (also $350 RT) had 2 stops to arrive earlier! :P

There are definitely some good deals out there right now. It's fluctuating greatly on a daily basis. Last week I booked one way tix home in December from Disney to O'Hare Chicago on Spirit for $54 (YES, $54!!!) each, INCLUDING the taxes/fees. My brother got RT on Spirit from Chicago/MCO for $173 each. All flights are non-stop. I also booked non-stop for hubby and I from Chicago to Tampa in February for $160 each. The next day they were $400 each, the day after that, $215 each. No rhyme or reason. You just have to watch it like a hawk, wait patiently, and then pounce immediately! :rotfl:

The funny thing is I had originally booked our flight home on United a few months ago, with terrible flight times and high prices. Found out last week they bumped us and the hadn't even put us on a new flight! Called and made them refund my money, then rebooked on Spirit with great flight times for $200 less. Yay!

We were pretty set on travel dates except for the fact that we're trying to get pregnant. However, the travel insurance was only $33 total for the both of us so I went ahead and got it. Just in case anything would happen with the baby, or I got put on bedrest, or something like that.

AND this morning Free Dining was released for our dates so things are pretty set in stone now. Yay!!!

our tickets for nov/dec were $235 each round trip with fees add in. I had saw yesterday $99 flights on southwest but did not get to talk to hubby about it till this AM and those flights were gone.
