Hubby and I are planning a trip to the Smokies over New Years for our anniversary. We'd like to stop in Knoxville on the way (12/29) up but only need a room for showering/sleeping.

We'll be coming in from Baton Rouge on (I think) I40 and arriving fairly late in the evening. We only need a bed and a shower but I can be extremely picky about a clean room, like irritatingly picky. We'd like to spend less than $75. Does such a thing exist?

Thanks!

Since you're on the way to the Smokies, I'd choose one on the East side of town. The Strawberry Plains exit has several, including a Fairfield Inn. There was a Country Inn & Suites, but I think it might have been rebranded. There may be a La Quinta. Can't recall the others, but you should be able to find a map listing them all.

Never stayed in any of them, so I can't comment on cleanliness. All national chains, though, FWIW.

My daughter got a good deal downtown through Priceline, which would be another option. You could go straight out Chapman Hwy to Sevierville and avoid a lot of the holiday season traffic.

I'm sorry - I can't picture where you are coming from.

There is a really nice bunch of hotels in Alcoa (the town that has the Knoxville Airport in it - so just outside of Knoxville). I've stayed at the Mainstay Suites in Alcoa - might be a little more than $75 (i.e. in the 80's if I recall.)

This is a really nice location for going to the Smokies.
