Cheap 12x12 hanging file folders?

Does anyone know where I can find cheap 12x12 hanging file folders? I've looked around on the web and they just seem so expensive. I found one of those wire put-together holder thingees at a yard sale for a dollar and I really want to use it for my 12x12 paper cause it's on a track and I can slide it in & out from under my craft table. I just can't see spending $10 for 6 hanging file folders to put in it (especially when I'd want/need quite a lot more than 6 of them).

Or if anyone's really crafty, can anyone suggest how I can make my own? I have some regular size ones I was going to try to tinker with but they're not wide enough to hang from the sides. I searched here on the DIS boards too and I only found a few threads and none were really helpful for me (unless I go get some legal size folders and try to doctor them up).

Maybe that's why the lady sold it at her yard sale - cause she couldn't find any cheap hanging folders for it!

At the time I bought mine, there were no 12 x 12 folders available, so I bought legal size hanging folders and legal size file folders. I split the hanging folders at the seams, and taped the regular file folder on to it so that it formed the bottom at the right depth, using packing tape. They work fine, but if I count the cost of the tape and my time to do the project, I'd say buying the 12 x 12 folders are probably a bargain!

I have seen 12 x 12 hanging folders at lots of different places but they all seem expensive. I think it is just because they are fairly new. But you are right about the price I could go broke just trying to stay organized.

You could wait until Hobby Lobby offers one of their 40% off anything coupons through their website. That's how I was able to afford one of their new 12x12 paper solutions storage racks. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!! They have a tall rack and a small cart with the 12x12 hanging files in that brand. It's $50 without the coupon, and a pain to put together, but I felt good about paying $30 with the coupon.

Anyways, wait for the coupon, and it might make the cost of the 12x12 folders a little more bearable!!
