Chatterbox Thread-Cmon in and Jabber! Everyone is Welcome!

Morning and Happy Monday!!

Hope everyone had a good halloween and weekend!

We had a blast on Saturday. We went downtown to this really fun costume shop and then over to the old Governor's mansion which was built in the 1800's and they had it all decked out and creepy and all the volunteers were dressed up. It was really fun.

Then yesterday we went to mom's and they had a little get together before trick or treating and we had food and visited with everyone and then did our normal trick or treat on the hay wagon around the neighborhood. My aunt who lost her husband came over because she was lonely and bored and wanted something to do so she rode with us part of the way and then Shane kept following the wagon and her, mom and I went back to the house and had some chilli and dessert and waited for them to get back. It was a great evening and I think she had a good time and enjoyed getting out!

It was fun but glad it is done now and I can really start concentrating on our trip now!!

Lynn we leave on Nov 11 and I prob will start packing end of this week beginning of next. I was just waiting for the 10 day weather.

B that is great that you got word from SS!!

Anyway off to work today and not too much going on this week. Katy gets her cast off on Friday so it will be interesting what the doc says about when she can play soccer again. We have our first indoor game this Friday night and of course a regular game on Saturday.

Anyway that's it for me. Hope everyone has a good day!!

Kelly, Glad you had a fun Halloween! And wow your trip is coming up fast. :yay:

Got a call back from the clinic before I had a chance to call them. Lucky that E sees this doc as she is no longer accepting new patients  but will take on new ones of "related established". I want her because she is really good about checking all the details and just super nice. However, for physicals she is booked up into December, booo! I asked them to call if there is a cancellation but they don't maintain a list. Oh well, another month of waiting unless I can't stand it any more and will search out another doc.

:cool1:

Another letter from SS today, they accepted the reduced payment.
He will get full benefits in .. get this..

2047

:lmao: :rotfl:

:rotfl:

:rotfl2:

Yes past his retirement age. Freaking hilarious but hey we will take it. :thumbsup2

Next is to figure out what is holding up the boys' benefit. They could just take all if it and it would be paid off in a matter of months. But they aren't processing it at all, they just keep sending a bill with no explanation how they got to this magical "you owe". Hoping that now E's portion is in agreement that the payment center will go to the next step to process, send a letter stating benefit, letter stating we will take it all.. etc etc. If they sit on it until the repayment is done (2047), the boys will obviously age out and then they will owe us money. Justin graduates in June, time is of the essence here and we all know how fast federal programs run.

Ya just gotta love our government! Although I think this is very funny because right before I got on here I was checking out government jobs on the internet.:lmao: I'm pretty sure I could work for the government and not mess things up any worse then they currently are!:lmao:

And yes, you read that correctly...I'm putting out feelers for new job opportunities. I know that some people would kill for my job, but there's more to life then money...kwim!

Odds are I won't leave, but if something perfect shows up and is within my target salary range I will consider it.

I can understand the desire to see what's out there.. heck we moved across the country "just to see".. not what I recommend :lmao: But it was a good learning experience and gave E that edge to land a job here in MN.
Would an administrative position at a college be something to consider? Many colleges are generous in benefits, free tuition for dependents! :thumbsup2

Speaking of employment... a teacher was dismissed at E's school. It was handled badly and we wonder if the principal violated contract terms. There is a certain chain of events that must occur if a teacher is failing in the classroom. Some steps were taken but not enough supports and documentation to show the school did try to help.
They walked her out of the building mid day.. bad scene!

Anyway, E's name got dropped into the conversation of replacement. There was some discussion about possibly a half time position.. until finally a staff person from last year pointed out that he is happy doing his current position and there was a reason why he choose not to work full time.

I'm so proud of him, to think back on how he was treated in his position in CA and now offered two jobs in the same school because they KNOW he can handle the behaviors and teach well. :goodvibes Kinda wish we could go back and rub it in the face of that evil principal that made his life a living hell that year. HMPH! :snooty: :lmao:

:scared1::scared1:WOW BERNICE!!!! I just applied for a job...at Washington State University-Vancouver. Seriously, just minutes ago, before I came on the DIS. How weird is that?

I was thinking the same thing and they have a position open as an Administrative Asst. to one of the Chancellor's of Education. It would be right up my alley. I could go back to school and DD might just have to switch majors.
woaaaaaaaaaaaaaah weirdness! I know my dh reads my mind on a very frequent basis.. but you know that just happens when you've been together for going on 18 years, what's your excuse for being in my head? :p :lmao:

E already informed me that I am having a massage for my anniversary gift.. I don't have a choice. But I need to find the place because he figured he would screw it up. Considering he thought the Swedish Institute was a place that does massage (it's a local museum of culture and history of the Swedish immigrants to MN), he needs a little help.

Loving the Halloween pics! I'm amazed at how quickly they are growing! :cutie:

I know isn't it wild! Mikalah (sp?) is looking like a young girl...kinda out of that kindergartner look. I just seen the twins a few weeks ago and they already look bigger to me in this pic. A very nice looking bunch!:thumbsup2

Wanna hear the funny thing? I tweaked my resume to read Tod & Maxine McClaskey Enterprises/Western Inns instead of just McClaskey Enterprises. (They were my two original bosses that passed away)...and guess what is currently being built on that campus (thanks to their Charitable Foundation)....the Tod & Maxine McClaskey Early Childhood Education Center! Think the fact that I've worked for the benefactors family for over 20 years might help?:rotfl2:

Of course you never know, it may already be filled internally...a lot of those positions are. But hey, I applied anyway.

CUTE Halloween pics Megan! I LOVE those costumes.:thumbsup2
Good luck! and thanks!! I love the costumes too.. Alex was kinda bummed that no one thought his costume was all that cool.. But hey, he picked it out, you know? I totally would have made him something. I have Jedi pattern I would have gladly sewed for him. I sat him down and told him that we need to decide on a costume for him next year early.. and we can sit down to gether and I will teach him to sew so he can help me make it. He got excited then!:thumbsup2

I know.. She does NOT look like a five year old. Of course, it doesnt help that the costume I made for her is really more appropriate for an older girl, and she had a crapton of makeup on.. But still.. She doesnt even have the body of a five year old. THAT scares me. Im afraid she will be in a bra by the time she goes to second grade. but the costume WAS cute.. wasnt it?? ;):lmao: I am SOOO glad it turned out awesome. :cool1:

Staley- cute photos! :) Your kids are so cute! :cutie:

Hi to everyone. I've been busy and am super sleepy right now. I hope you are all doing well.

Morning and happy Wednesday!

Not much going on here! Yesterday I just ran my errands and did a bunch of laundry. Trying to get all my junk done before we leave. Got Toy Story 3 yesterday and Katy and I watched it while Shane and Shelby went to soccer. This is the last week of practices thank goodness. Soooo ready to be done with that for awhile although we still have the indoor games and a few more regular games left.

Megan cute pics of your kiddos!!

Tonight we have Katy's meeting for GATE. I will be interested to see what they say and if we end up doing it with her next year!

Otherwise not much else going on. Nothing tomorrow that I know of other than the last soccer practice and Friday again Katy get's her cast off and we will find out more about how her arm healed and how long it will be before she can play soccer again. I am actually hoping to keep her out of it the rest of the season because I don't want any re-injuries and have her out of swim!! I know that after an initial break it is common to re-injur the same area and esp since she plays goal and uses her hands a lot and dives to the ground and gets stepped on and kicked!!! So I am hoping the doc says to just take a break!! She isn't going to do this first session of indoor since it starts on Friday the DAY she gets her cast off and there is no way I am having her do it the first day and then we leave before she can play the next few games but I don't know if I am going to let her play the ones when we come back either. There are only a couple and then we have a tournament so it depends on what the doc says. But then Shane is going to want to play another session of indoor through Jan and into Feb so that is what is going to be the big factor. We shall see I guess.

Then nothing really on for this weekend except hopefully there will be enough of the forcast out by then that I can FINALLY pack. The first day of our trip was out yesterday and it said 82 and it has been in the 80's and 90's although there is a couple days THIS week where it is getting down in the 60's and low 70's so that is a big difference so I am going to need to check. I was going to take mostly shorts but 60's could be a bit chilly so NEED that forcast LOL!

Anyway hope you all have a good day and talk soon!

Not that I'm trying to scare you, but my DD started having visits from Aunt Flo when she was 10!:scared1: Let me tell you, it was not fun. 10yo's do not have the mental capacity to handle things like that. Not only that, we were at Grandma's house and it happened on Christmas Eve. Seriously, get yourself prepared by 4th grade.:sad2: As far as the bra thing, I can't remember exactly but I'm thinking it was 3rd or 4th grade.

I just read that DCA will not be having the Food and Wine Festival in 2011 or 2012 due to all of the construction. :sad1:

aww bummer, but I guess it's better that they did cancel it as I can imagine what a mess that would be.

Ugh, I'm tired out now.

I walked up to Walmart with dh, bought Toy Story 3.
We rarely buy movies now but I couldn't pass it up as the 1st Toy Story was Noah's first movie he watched in theater (and quickly became a favorite on DVD as he grew) .. okay so he was not even a year old at the time.. but he was mesmerized by the big screen and absolutely quiet (which in itself is a miracle as he was a whiny crabby stinker), perched on a chair in his car seat. Eloy and I still quote lines from the first movie. :cutie:

Had lunch at Chipotle, we share a burrito which makes it not only cheap but the right amount of food. No belly aches from over stuffing ourselves.:thumbsup2

Walked all the way back home while E took the bus to work.
Got home just as the UPS truck arrived, picked up my package (cat food) and collapsed in a heap in the living room. I am done! Kaput! Tired and aching!

But it's okay..
All the bills are paid, we are well stocked in groceries and life is good again.

Yeah.. I was 10 too.. I know she is going to hit all that stuff early, and I dread it. Yikes.

:rotfl:

I think Lynn has the right idea.. share the wealth ;) Now that paypal account was funnygarcia @ ............................................. No credit cards, existing funds only. Thank you!

:rotfl2:

And oh man Lynn, bronchitis sucks! I'm glad you got in right away to check it out.

When E coughs up blood I shove him to the doc to get an x ray, for him it means pneumonia and after a really really bad case that hospitalized him for over a month I don't let him "wait it out". You do NOT want a severe case of pneumonia, it's awful and scary stuff :scared:

So take your meds young lady and rest rest rest! :upsidedow
Hope you feel better soon!
