Chatterbox Thread-Cmon in and Jabber! Everyone is Welcome!

Sara are you guys going to a halloween party? Have fun either way!! :)

No becasue I think they are only on Tuesday and Friday night and we can't get down there early enough on a Friday. We are doing the Happiest Haunts tour on Saturday evening though. Looks like it should be fun. :thumbsup2

So yesterday my brother drops DBF off at the airport around 10:45am for his 12:45pm flight. At noon they cancel his flight. :scared1: By the time it's his turn at the counter (almost 2 hours in line) there are no flights left for the day to Albuquerque. So I had to leave work at 3:00pm and go pick him up. It was 4:30 before I got him. Let me tell you, he was not a happy camper. He was tired and hungry and cranky. There's not any close food places near the Ontario airport and they wouldn't let him back upsatirs to get something to eat.

Now he is re-scheduled for Saturday at 12:45pm becasue no one could take him during the week. So I guess my mom and I will drop him off on the way to Disneyland so we can still make it in time for the tour. :sad2:

YAY!! How exciting!! I knew that was the news from your FB status. I always figure baby news... Must be because I have so many kids, huh??

Well.. I took Julie shopping for a homecoming dress today. That went well, but I am exhausted!! We were all over the mall, and she found a super cute dress at JC Penney.. Guess how much it cost?? $30!!! Isnt that fantastic?? It was $50, but on sale. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2
:thumbsup2

I can't believe that I actually did a search for shrimp poop on our thread. So the only thing that is popping up is Dizzy's remark. What's going on? I thought I was the insane one.:confused3:laughing:
Yeah sorry about that :rotfl2: We were eating popcorn shrimp....and me being that always anti-fish person finally learned to eat it. So we are peacefully enjoying our meal - when DD asks what the black line is in the shrimp - and DH has to tell me - AFTER we were done eating that it was SHRIMP POOP!!! I though he was kidding - then I googled it.....so no more shrimp for me :snooty:

Gah... Families can sure suck, eh?? We do lots of yelling around here. Its the only way to be heard over all the noise. But angry, fighting yelling?? No.. Not so much.

I am in the process of making Kaylee a tutu for her Halloween costume. GEEZ is it taking forever!! But... It will be so cute! I know they usually only take a few yards of tulle.. Maybe 7-10 or so.. But so far I have used 20 yards. It is so full!! She WANTS to be Padme (from star wars) But that just isnt going to happen. I dont know what to do for that costume! So she will be a punk rocker princess.. Super cute! Alex is going to be Darth Vader.. Jasmine is going to be Sleeping Beauty.. We had that costume left over from Kaylee. Vinny is going to be a Lego.. Easy costume! We are taking a big box and painting it and adding the sticky outy bits to it. Super cheap! Julie wants to be some sort of goth chick. I thought if we could figure out how to make Kaylee a Padme costume.. The twins could be Luke and Leia... But Alex has had some issues watching the movie where Padme has the twins.. then dies. SO I thought it might be to much for him.

Cute - and probably a good call on the twins :rotfl2:. We had voted for the Mad Hatter and Alice for the kids...but they vetoed us with Batman and Batgirl...so no Disney theme for me this year :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

Yippee!!! Football practice is cancelled for the night!!!

So - to explain where I have been the last few months.....

Working at least 6 days/week - the good news with that is I am able to manipulate my schedule where I can usually pick the kids up from school - allowing me to help more with homework this year - especially with Alec being in 2nd grade and the work getting more difficult...

John still plays co-ed softball one night per week.
Alec is playing football - 2 1/2 hours of practice 2 times per week and games on Saturday.
Alecia is playing soccer - so practice once per week and games usually once per week...

So if we are lucky - this is all 6 different days of the week - so we are usually home by 8 - finishing up with homework - and kiddos in bed by 9 if we are lucky :faint:

The only bright side is we cannot do sports year round - so both the kids are finishing up with only a couple of weeks left - and we get a break for the winter!!!

On an even brighter note we leave for Disneyland in four days - flying this time- so it should be an adventure :goodvibes

It means that he is a selfish jerk who only cares about himself.. and maybe is a little jealous about his sister moving on to a different stage in her life.. Maybe. Obviously I don't know the dude!

Actually, that doesn't sound too far off the mark. E's says "he's such a tool", guess that's about the same.

Went shopping with sis as she wanted to get a gift for our mom's birthday..which lands on the same day as the memorial/ bonfire.. and since I am similar in size to mom, I get to be the model. I tried on a bunch of stuff I would NEVER buy for me but are perfect for mom. Finally she makes a decision, we walked the mall some more and browsed.. looking at things neither of us need. Stayed much much much too long. I was sore already this morning, with all the walking it did me in. Two days in a row of walking around is too much for me, now everything hurts. Ibuprofen did nothing. E looks at me shuffling along and says " that's it, that is enough for you to need pain meds" and I do the no no no I will be fine routine.. he doesn't buy it. Yeah he knows me too darn well. I took a tylenol 3 leftover from N's dental work. woooaaaaaahhhhhh, I'm way loopy, sleepy now and I only took one! Lightweight... :rotfl:

okay, off to la-la land for me.. zzzzzzzzzzzzz.

What no hockey, skiing, skating, curling? Lots of sports in the winter. :thumbsup2

woohooo on disneyland trip. Have fun!

Nope - not here in our little town. I guess we have a ski resort 45 minutes away - but no thanks :scared1:

We should definitely have fun - we added a day to the trip to get the cheap $39 flights (restrictions on what day we could fly out) so hopefully it will be a tad more relaxing then usual :goodvibes

I got a "sorry I should have listened to you" out of dh, the tylenol 3 that he pressured me into taking made me uber nauseous until it wore off. Pain and stiff joints is much preferred over trying not to hurl and feeling "drugged up". I could never be a drug addict. :lmao::rotfl2:

I will stick to prevention, MUST take breaks throughout the day!
Ibuprofen and hot showers, to relieve the inflammation and bring comfort, over any of the strong stuff. I had a feeling it wasn't the best option for me, but I know dh gets anxious when I have this flare ups... and meds work well for him, not for me!

I hate feeling sick.

So stupid question that I would rather ask you guys vs. posting on the main board.....

I haven't checked bags for flights in 10 years....what can you check? Is there anything that you can't? Laptop? Food? Clearly not the kids, but I bought them both a ticket :rolleyes1 The liquid rule only applies to the carry - on, right?

Morning and happy Wed.

Nice to see you posting again Dizzy! I know how you feel about the every night with the sports thing. That is pretty much us year round! For us it starts in March with swim team and we have practice 5 days a week and we are lucky cuz every OTHER year the girls are in the same age group but then the NEXT year which happens to be this coming year they are in opposite groups which means TWO hours of swim because they go to different groups. BLEH. Then they have meets every Saturday that starts in early May and those start at 6:30 and go to 3 or 4 and sometimes later. It is LONG hot days!! Then we literally start soccer the very next week. Swim ends the last weekend of July and soccer starts the first week of August and dh is the coach for our team too. Soccer goes till Thanksgiving weekend and then they immediately start indoor which goes through January when my youngest then starts basketball! That usually goes till February and we get our one small break. The girls also have done girl scouts up till this year and they did awana 1 night a week through our church but both of those things have ended for the time being so we aren't quite as swamped as we used to be but still the sports is a lot and then they have quite a bit with school and my youngest is doing piano lessons now. WHEW. So I def know what you mean!

I watched the saddest movie yesterday. I decided to go to the video store because I had a free rental and I wanted to see that movie about the 4 different babies but for some weird reason they didn't have it but instead I got Karate kid and they had this movie called Letters to God about a boy that had cancer and wrote letters to god. It was by the same group that did fireproof for any of you that have heard of that. It was sad but SO good.

Karate kid was pretty good as well and the kids really liked it. I wanted to get Iron Man 2 but they were all out. Anyway tonight not much going on just going to relax at home and watch survivor but then tomorrow the fun starts. The girls have their performance and they are all excited and then I can't wait to see shelby do her recital and then on Saturday after our game we go to apple hill and then perhaps Sunday I am going to take them out shopping for costumes before they all start getting thinned out.

Then in the next few weeks my mom found this really cool place in Dixon that has a corn maze and some other fun halloween stuff (pumpkin patch and such) and we are going to try and go to that. So I am excited to do that.

B hope you feel better and hope everyone has a good day!

Good Morning Kelly!!! I wish I was still in bed - but for some reason I can never fall back asleep when DH leaves for work! I am glad to see someone feel my sports pain :rotfl2:. I guess we do cheat a little by skipping basketball - but my DD is WAY too short and I don't think my DS could handle it - football and baseball are big enough challenges for him with the sensory processing issues. So as much as I am complaining - I think you have me beat :worship::rotfl2:

LOL well Shelby is pretty short too and I don't think you could call what they do "real" basketball but they try LOL. She is on a team for 3rd and 4th graders and they just basically play scrimmages but she LOVES it so we let her do it. They have been playing soccer since they were each 4 and doing swim team since they were 7 but this past year was the first year for basketball and my older one is not interested. We figured we would let them try a few other sports but only as long as they were off season from the other two as they are SO time consuming. One can only do SO much LOL. If I let them they would do karate, gymnastics, horse back riding, you name it. And my wallet and my time just don't exist ;)

Ah what us "soccer moms" do for our kids eh? LOL But I do enjoy it and I never got to do any sports when I was a kid because my parents owned their own business and I had to sit in the back of their store and never got to do anything with friends so I REALLY wanted my girls to have as normal a childhood as possible. Guess I went a little overboard LOL. :)

YOu can check pretty much anything. Its a shame about the children though.. Eh?

:rotfl: Yes I agree. Fortunately I have not yet had a request for basketball - but that is one sport that is not too prevalent here. Baseball/softball, soccer and football are the big ones here. Never realized how big football was until this year - and now I think we live in Texas :lmao:

Awesome - and yes bummer on the kids - that would make the trip much cheaper and WAY more quiet :lmao:

Amen to that! Quiet... cheap... I LIKE IT!

Have I told you guys lately how much I dis-like DSIL???

Okay, so I told you DBF's flight got cancelled on Monday and he re-scheduled for Saturday at 12:45pm. That put a little dent in my plans for Disneyland but my mom and I figuered we could drop him off at the airport on the way to DL and still make the 5:00pm Happiest Haunts Tour.

So yesterday DSIL is calling me all morning but I can't answer my cell phone at work so I call her back at lunch (1:30pm) and she says she got DBF switched to a 4:30pm flight on Tuesday. :scared1: She says she's been calling him all morning and he didn't answer but she needs him to get to the airport now. Uh hello stupid, the airport is over an hour away and DBF is at the gym which is 45 minutes in the opposit direction, not to mention he doesn't have a ride there. :sad2: Why would she change his flight with out checking with him first??? I told her he doesn't have a ride and she says tell him to leave his car at the airport and she would pay the parking fees.

Anyways, DBF calls her and tells her to switch it back to Saturday but now the 12:45pm flight is full so he is on a 4:30pm flight. :headache: So I have to call DL and see if I can switch the tour to Sunday evening and luckly there are two open spots. :thumbsup2 But I'm still pissed at DSIL because now we are only going to DL for the day on Sunday. No point to spend $ on the hotel if we aren't going to get there until late on Saturday anyways.

Okay I feel better now. :rotfl: Thanks for listening! :flower3: :)

Sorry to be rude ladies but I'm not going to read the other posts right now. :rotfl2: I just wanted to tell you all that I'm off to get married!!! I'll post pictures when I get back!
Pray for good weather and that my luggage doesn't get lost :lmao:

Married?!?! Are you eloping or was this planned?

Bummer Sarah  I hate it when other people screw up my plans, peeves me to no end!

I don't like last minute changes or when dh's family makes plans with us.. but doesn't tell us what the plans are  The whole camping thing in the summer made me want to strangle the lot of them. They made plans but never told us.. you know, the people they were staying with, the people who had made the camping reservation YESH! So I finally asked " so what's the plan?" and MIL looks at us all confused because we obviously know what's going on..umm no, not really. grrrrr.

Not the first time either, they showed up on our doorstep in the spring to use as an overnight but didn't tell us if they were staying or just passing thru..
Hotel Garcia is open, I should charge room and board. Here pay my electric bill this month and we will call it even. :lmao:

:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:
Have fun Christina!!! Yes yes we need pictures!!
