I've been a customer of this card since 2006 and have always been very diligent in paying on time and 2-3 times the minimum payment. Until last month - I accidentally paid late (by a few days at that!) and lo and behold...my interest rate has shot up to 24.99%!!!!! on top of that, they automatically reduced my credit limit w/o any warning whatsover. The kicker is that when I called their customer service to ask for some sort of forgiveness, I was told outright "NO" and the gentleman wouldn't even listen to me!! I even asked to speak to his supervisor and he went into this long and drawn out spiel about their policy being that they don't have supervisors to talk with customers. WTH?? a call center w/ no supervisors? I'm soooo disgusted at this point. I told the agent I was going to sell my stock to get the darn card paid off then cancel it. Of course - he didn't care and said "i don't blame you". Any suggestions?

Call back and talk to someone else. You may get someone who is more willing to work with you.
Though it may not help as many CC companies are raising rates and lowering credit lines for customers who have never been late. DH and I have had a Penney's and Sears CC for over 20 years and always paid on time and just a couple of months ago both companies raised our rates!

I got that same line of crap regarding supervisors from FairPoint on some bill mistakes they made. Call back and just start off by asking for a supervisor. Be firm, but polite and tell the person who answers that you will need a supervisor. Also a good idea to ask for their full name and customer service # so if they refuse you can reference back. Keep trying until you get a supervisor and then explain the situation. Also make sure to reference the fact that you have been a customer in good standing for X years and up until now you have been thoroughly satisfied with the service you get from your Chase Disney Visa. Let them know that this has never happened before and that it shouldn't happen again (don't say never).

Good luck!

As they've said here a lot of good people who make the effort and pay on time, pay more than minimum, etc seem to be being penalized by credit card companies. My mother got fed up when she learned a card she was making serious head way with decided to nearly triple her payment. She transferred it to a more friendly card and cancelled that puppy. Not sure what the credit card are doing other than freeing up there money. But they loose the good customers in doing so. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

I would say if you can't get any resolution look for a way to cancel that card as soon as possible.

Same thing happened to me..although I did get a nice person she did say once you pay late and it goes up (mine went to 24.9 too) then you have to have 6 months of on time payments then call and they can reduce it but it would not happen automatically...you must call.

I feel for you. The Disney Visa is in my name, so I have credit, but DH pays the bills. He forgot once and I got hit with the high interest rates, late fee, etc. I called and got the same. This was after Oprah had done a show about how to get the interest rates lowered. I tried it all, word for word and got no where. I would have canceled it, but didn't want to loose my Disney Dollars.

I guess I should try and call now to see if they would lower it, since it's been over a year. But in this economy, I'm not sure they would.

We just got info in the mail today that Chase is changing their APR

"The standard APR for purchases and balance transfers will change to a variable rate: the Prime Rate plus 9.99%, which as of June 17, 2009 would be 13.24%. The standard ARP for cash advances will change to a variable rate: the Prime Rate plus 15.99%, which as of June 17, 2009 would be 19.24%"

Changes set to take affect October 2009 :sad2:

Told my DH after our upcoming trip, we don't have another one planned so will not be using except for very small purchases on occasion just to keep a balance and pay it off every month. We are always early on our payments and NEVER pay the minimum payment, always more and sometimes the full balance.

This just makes me  that they are doing this to good standing customers.
