I was talking to Guest Services today and I asked him what his suggestion would be for a special anniversary dinner and he recommended the Chart House in Dana Point.

Has anyone been there? Any reviews? How far away from DL is it? Will we need to rent a car, or can we call a cab? Do you think the food & atmosphere are worth the high prices?

Thanks!

If I'm not mistaken, Dana Point is closer to San Diego, which is about a 1 1/2 hour drive (personally, I wouldn't make the drive just for dinner). Chart House is a chain and I've been to a couple (one in Hawaii, one in Mammoth Lakes, CA) and both were excellent.

If you want something along the ocean, maybe you could look for places between Long Beach and Newport Beach which is only about a 20-30 minute drive depending on traffic. Or have you considered Napa Rose in the Grand Californian?

Yes, we are having dinner one night at Napa Rose.

I would like to spend an evening away from Disney, maybe Newport Beach would be closer? Can you tell me about it? is there shopping? good restaurants?

Thanks!

Hi!
Actually, Dana Point is just about 15 miles down the beach from Newport Beach. But there are much better reaurants, a lot closer to DL. As LuvTigger suggested, if you don't want to eat at Napa Rose (GCH), Newport Beach is a great place to go (especially for seafood), but even that is about 30 min. from DL. Other suggestions: Granville's Steak House at DL Hotel, Catal (upstairs dining) & Ralph Brennan's in Downtown Disney. All, very nice restaurants with great food and no commute!! We live here and often go to these places for special occasions!!
:D

well then......I think that's what we'll do! We can save ourselves the car rental headache (and money) and just stick with Napa Rose, and DD!

Thanks everyone!

My favorite place for special occasions is Nieport 17. It's in Tustin and will take you about 15 minutes to get there from Disney. It does have a strict dress code and reservations are required, but the food and atmosphere cannot be beat.

I have been to the Chart house and the food is great, but I would not drive so far for it.

I hope you have a very special anniversary, wherever you choose to dine. Feel free to e-mail em with any questions.

:-)Karen
