We took down two large hardwood trees last year but only have a gas fireplace. We'd like to donate the wood to someone who can use it. Any ideas? The wood is cut to length but most of it is not split.

I'll take it. Please send it to Michigan. :teeth:

Actually, how 'bout a local Boy Scout organization or something similar. They may be able to use if for camping. Otherwise, if you want to get rid of it, just leave it out by the street, it will disappear in no time.

You'd be welcome to it! But, I'm afraid, you would need to come and pick it up yourself. The freight cost would kill us.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm thinking about stacking it by the road with a "FREE" sign and if it is not gone quickly, placing an ad in the paper.

That worked great for my dad once when the city cut down a tree in their front year--just a "free firewood" sign--doesn't take long once the word gets out.

How about bringing it to Ohio???

I'd stop if I saw a lot of firewood and a "free" sign on it. Good luck!

they do heat assistance in Maine......why not try to see if there are some people who could benefit from the wood........I am sure that there are plenty of people who could use it this year.....or call the Dept. of Human Services and see where they suggest you try
